Are all Moto X models pentaband? As in do the AT&T/T-Mobile/Dev Edition run the same bands (assuming carrier bands are unlocked). Does the Dev Edition contain more bands than say, the AT&T or T-Mobile version or they all the same hardware?

I can't seem to locate this info online.

Edit: This sheds some light and suggests the Dev Edition is the only one with every GSM band. I wish every phone just contained every band, no?

All aboard the Moto X train. Got mine from Republic Wireless today and it's pretty awesome. Everything just works well, including Google Voice integration/voicemail forwarding. Sprint speeds (yeah, I know) seem to be decent in my area - and for $25/month (on wifi a lot) it makes a lot of sense.

Don't miss the Nexus 5 or HTC One at all so far. Very happy with this phone and cheap service. 29 more days to decide but for now, Republic Wireless and the X are pretty drat impressive.

Even that silly windy day that appeared was creative and fun. I'm pretty shocked about the entire experience thus far. This may be the only Android phone that will pull my wife away from her iPhone. I'm going to try at least (and put her on Republic Wireless to save a lot each month).

But for the price and the ability to tether via wifi to my work iPad while in the boonies, I may be okay with that. I could even get my bill down to $5/month since I always have my iPad with me. What is the best way to get a Moto X on T-Mobile prepaid? Do I have to pay the $600 or whatever the gently caress for a developer edition?

Swappa, eBay, local or buy a Dev edition from Moto?

Oddly enough, Swappa listings for the Dev edition and T-Mo have all but stopped and new listings are very expensive.

3 weeks ago, you could get a barely used Dev edition for $420 - $470. Now there are hardly any listings and when there are, they are expensive.

Supply and demand. There aren't a lot of Moto X sellers. There are a ton of Nexus 5's on Swappa. Yes, I crowbared a Nexus 5 into this post, only to make a point about how great the X is.

Anecdotal? Yes. But it suggests something interesting to me about the X.

Any unlocked GSM phone or branded T-Mobile phone qualifies just fine on the $30 plan. Pop in the SIM and go. They don't care where you purchased the phone as long as the IMEI isn't blocked for some reason (theft, etc).

The X is awesome, and if you can snag a Dev edition for $399, that's the steal of the century (that is, if the Nexus 5 isn't your fancy, of course). The N5 wasn't all that IMO. The X just makes sense.

Speaking of Motorola, my fiance's Razr M seems to only like Motorola brand wall chargers (or it may have been a bad cable), and also it only charges in the car on a 2 amp car charger, and the 1 amp does not work. Is this a Razr M thing? Or are my methods flawed?

I chatted with them last night via MotoCare on my phone and the agent essentially told me the only way to get the $399 price is to return a perfectly good phone (under the 14-day window) and order a new one. Seems ridiculous, but they aren't budging. If I can get a $399 Dev one today, that's what I'll do. $150 is $150 and Moto will have a perfectly good RMA'd phone on their hands. Strange.

If they tossed me a small coupon for accessories, I'd shut up about it. RMA it is I guess (if the website ever works). Just got the phone on Saturday.

But it does look to be a great idea. I'm surprised there isn't a real, non-janky OEM solution (mass-produced) for a Qi car charger. It's confusing. I know, market share of Qi devices, but theres gold in them hills for a major company to do it right and not charge $99. If a clean solution landed on the market from, say, Moto (they do have non-X Qi phones) for like $49, they would sell a boatload of them.

Owl as an option, but I'd prefer a major OEM, personally.
