The only thing he'd have to work on is the sense of speed Spider-Man has, which doesn't really come across in any of his work I've seen. His action would have to be a bit more dynamic. But I could deal with that not being perfect just for the tone his work sets.

Well it isn't shocking, didn't they just do the same thing to Spider-man 2099?

Spider-Man 2099 hasn't had his own series for years, and when he did it had a fairly long run. Bringing him to the current time at least gives us some good fish out of water stuff with an established character that otherwise wouldn't have been used for anything. Neither Miles or Spider-Gwen have had series that have gone on for all that long, and Miles at least is still being used in his own series. I could see both of them in like, 5-10 years being brought to the 616 and having good runs, but it's just way too early.

Honestly I don't know why people are mad. Well let me rephrase that, I know why people are mad. But poo poo, did you really expect to read an event that promised to feature every Spider-Man ever, where the premise is that all the Spider-Men are being hunted and killed by extradimensional weirdos, and not expect to see at least one recognizable/famous Spider-Man get killed? Or did you think it would just be a bunch of random cameo Spideys no one liked all that much in a ditch like armor Spider-Man from the last few episodes of 90s Spider-Man or Spider-Man Unlimited (that was Spider-Man Unlimited getting offed in this issue too, right?) this week?

I mean I'm not Slott's biggest fan either, but 616 Peter's continued inability to act remotely like an adult when confronted with the responsibility of running his company was far more offensive than the brutal murder.

I think people were more mad at which version of Spider-Man they chose to give the violent death to than it happening at all. If it had been like, Spider-Man India or something no one would have cared because he wasn't literally a happy go lucky, fun version of the character for kids that a lot of people grew up with.

That does bring up an interesting point - perhaps the reason why Spider-Verse is happening now, and all of these alternate Spider-Men are getting killed off is because the end game of Hickman's Avengers may be to wipe out the multiverse during Secret Wars anyway.

Considering they have the big Marvel writer retreats, I could see one leading into the other.

I'm going to guess it's the exact opposite, and the multiverse gets somehow brought back to where it was before the incursions started or something. So Slott can jerk off while murdering the Amazing Friends because it's the only way he can feel anything anymore and it doesn't actually matter because it's going to be reset in some way by Hickman anyway.

I haven't read Amazing since it relaunched. And I didn't read any of Superior. I keep up with what's happening here, and Spider-Verse sounded interesting to me to the point where if it was getting good buzz here I was thinking of starting again.
