What's up with the lack of Wii U in Black Friday listings this year? I see stuff for xbone, ps4, even 2ds/3ds, but not a single mention of anything Wii U. I was thinking of finally getting one, too. No more twerking Samus Where do you find all those avatars, anyway?

I'm considering getting a Wii U so my kids can have something to play non-handheld games together without hogging the TV. Is there a reasonable case for getting an additional one of the touchscreen gamepad things, and if so, is there anywhere you can get one for less than $130? That's the cheapest I've seen searching online, Nintendo doesn't seem to have any refurbs, and for that price it seems like you might as well just buy an entire Wii U and sell the console part to get the controller.

Supercar Gautier posted:For additional controllers, instead of getting more Gamepads, what you're looking for are either Pro Controllers or Wii Remotes. The Pro is pretty broadly compatible with Wii U games and matches the Gamepad's button layout, but the Wii remote is necessary for original Wii games or for motion control stuff. I've got original Wii remotes / controllers still lying around, so if it's possible for them to play with the remote screen with two separate controllers that would probably work too. Sounds like that might not be an option either though...

I guess I'm part of the club now, I took advantage of the Toys R Us deal plus their 15% off coupon for today and a $10 rewards coupon I had to get Smash Bros, Mario Kart 8, Mario 3D World, and Hyrule Warriors, plus a few Amibos my kids liked. Now I just need the actual console, is there anywhere that is supposed to have a Black Friday deal better than the $200 refurb you can get direct from Nintendo?

Question for you guys - is the memory difference in the 8gb Wii U vs. the 32gb one like a matter of internal memory, or is it just like an included SD card that you could replace off Amazon for like $10-$15? Also, is that DDP thing only applicable to games you buy off the e-shop? Someone please answer my questions so I can make an informed purchase at deep discounts

Toys R Us is apparently selling an 8gb white Wii U with that Skylanders game for $200 on Black Friday. I don't give a poo poo about Skylanders and can't really find anything explaining why it's so popular, but I do know I don't want my kids bugging me to buy $20 figurines so I'm trying to gauge whether I want that or just a 32gb refurb from Nintendo. I've read that a double pack of both the NES Remix games is coming out in a couple of weeks. Those are just snippets of NES games where you try to accomplish goals, kind of like Wario Ware, right? Anyone who's played them that can say whether they're worth a buy for $30? raditts fucked around with this message at 03:32 on Nov 23, 2014 |

Did you ever get to try the hori controller out? I picked up the PDP one at Toys R Us yesterday thinking it was the Hori until I got home and took a closer look at the box. I didn't even realize they both had very similar looking controllers, and some of the Amazon reviews say the same thing about how cheap it feels.

If so, IIRC you can set your zip code to somewhere in California and you won't get charged tax at all. Skwirl posted:I keep hearing mixed things about New Super Mario U here (nothing bad, but not much enthusiasm). Is it just because it's an older game on the system that doesn't bring much new to table compared to the old Wii one, or is it lacking in some respect to the Wii one? Because being a dick to my friends in "co-op" mode on the last one is some of the most fun I had on the Wii. I don't think people really care much for the "New Super Mario" series in general. Like I don't hate the games, but it feels like there's something missing in them from the other 2D-oriented games in the series. They especially pale in comparison to 3D Land/World, which finally nailed a transition from 2D Mario games to a 3D space. raditts fucked around with this message at 14:55 on Dec 6, 2014 |
