Hey come in! Haven't seen you since GTCC Forza 4 days a couple years ago. I'm going to be getting in on pCARS to try and relive said GTCC days, and need to get me a wheel for my PC. What's a fair-priced wheel/pedal set? My frame of reference is the cheap/crap Microsoft wheel they made for 360. I'm not looking to go super-pro $500 wheel $200 pedal like a Fanatec or anything, but between the Logitech and Thrustmaster options maybe which one works the best with pCARS?

Do we still not have a Steam group for this game? Do I really have to make it? I'll probably be the least active, and when I will be active, I'll be in last place.

Considering I don't have a wheel and I'm planning to buy a G27 based on GutBomb's recommendation, I'm seeing all these different setups and problems and having to set things up for each car and I'm wondering if I should have even bought the game. Is this normal? Was it too much to expect Forza/GT-like "plug in the wheel and it's good"? How much time will I have to invest in this just to have some fun races with you guys? It seems needlessly complicated.

I just got my G27 and I seem to have a tendency to pull on the wheel towards me and off my table. One of those would be nice. I have nothing to compare this force feedback too other than Forza 4 and the lovely MS wheel. Also: I am terrible at this game don't include me haha.

Yep, FFB needs tweaking a lot for sure. I don't feel rumble strips at all, and while I had some FFB with the karts, going to a Ford Focus brought my wheel intensity to 0. Gonna try that linked stuff. edit: still kinda meh? LiquidRain fucked around with this message at 15:18 on May 12, 2015 |

GutBomb posted:Where he says the presets don't work he's referring to setting those presets within the ffb xml files. In older builds it worked to set them from the files but now you need to set those in the ffb calibration menu in game. I know it's not really very clear. Right now I'm looking at: Step 0: reset my wheel settings in game and calibrate Step 1: copy the ??? FFB folder to My Documents/Project CARS/. Step 2: beyond my ability to comprehend right now And yeah I'm fine with firing up Notepad++ to find and replace all. As for car settings, where do I configure degrees-to-lock? I prefer lower values, in the 180-200 range. Most cars in the game are fine but I found the Focus RS to require a lot more turning than I cared for. Sorry for being annoying with all this. I hope the console users don't need to go this far.

I have a really, really hard time with the Focus. It's steering is like a road car, rather than a race car, which means it takes a lot of turning-in to make it really go around a corner. It's also one of the few FWD drive cars which means if you're on the gas, you're going to be getting a lot of understeer. Which is to say, it drives like a truck compared to the twitchy little go karts. Go drive a Formula car, an Atom, or a Caterham, and you'll see what I mean. The difference between cars in this game (especially with a 900 degree steering wheel) is massive compared to Forza and GT.

How about we try this: Put your name down here if you play on PC and you are INTERESTED in playing in one of the time slots. This is to gauge how many folks we can get for what time slots - it's not an attendance sign-up sheet! Basticle I'm assuming you'll head up the American times there? Can you put that in? I'm figuring I'll start hosting the Asia-compatible slots not this week, but next week, the weekend of the 20th. We can run the same theme that Basticle sets (e.g. Clio Cup) throughout all the time slots. I'll run the time slots in Asia for 4 weeks as best I can to get a good gauge on attendance for the two times. LiquidRain fucked around with this message at 09:21 on Jun 10, 2015 |
