Wheel chat:

I haven't really looked into wheel options sine FM5 came out and there basically weren't any BONE compatible wheels on the market.

After some cursory searching it seems like the main options are:
• Thrustmaster Ferrari 458 Spider ($100ish) - no force feedback, plastic pedals, 240 degree rotation
• Thrustmaster Ferrari 458 Italia ($300ish) - force feedback, metal pedals, 900deg. rotation, upgradable w/ shifter addons
• Logitech G920 ($400ish and not released until 10/14) - FF, metal pedals (including clutch), 900deg. rotation, upgradable shifter

I'm leaning towards the TM Italia. Is there a better choice?

I have the Italia and it's great, I especially liked it with FH2. I can't wait to try it out for this game.

Speaking of, Howdy, I can't wait to battle you for last place!

Restart Xbox via the wheel and sign out / in with the wheel as your controller, don't use the gamepad.

Still some bugs - goto Options -> Layout and if you want layout 1, select layout 2 then re-select layout one. Also in Multi-player, Right shifter shifts up properly, but also gives you a flash of the rearview :gonk:

I'd just mirror what GutBomb said, but the TX is great (even if a bit buggy at the moment - with forza not the wheel. See my post at the top of the page).

My biggest challenge with it at the moment is that I use it while sitting in rocking recliner at the moment so it makes for some awkwardness to get over. Also the multiplayer bug sucks and may have to switch layouts and not use the paddles until the bug is fixed.

Also with noting is that I'm not experiencing any bugs. I had one issue, but I think it's because I was messing with the menus with a controller and it made the button mapping and the pedals all hosed up once I got into a race. I restarted the game and didn't have another problem.

I'm glad you haven't. And usually restarting at least the mode you're in might fix it - for instance, I just went from Rivals to Career and the bug showed itself. I restarted Forza and it was fine after that. I haven't rechecked Multiplayer maybe there will be goons playin tomorrow afternoon. I want to do one of those endurance showcases as well.

I'm sitting on ~8million and now can look for interesting cars to mod and paint and for free getting the F1 Lotus, Ferrari 250gt, etc. I think Turn 10 learned a bit from FH2 and brought some bits over from that game.

And of course there are people on the Forza forums complaining about the spins and getting free credits or cars (you don't have to take the spin!). Some people are the worst.

And because I'm a masochist, I just did the Atlanta 100. That's 3 endurance races in one day.

Err, can you only use the rewind a certain number of times in a race? Halfway through an enduro and it stopped working.

It's really broken. As the race goes on, it gets worse.

1) At first it's normal.
2) Then it doesn't "rewind" it just screen blanks and puts you back at a point.

Then one of two (or both) things happen

3) You've rewinded and you're at a different camera view / angle
4) You've rewinded nearly 3/4s of a lap (this happened to be at Road Atlanta 100)

Or

5) Rewind is not available at some points but returns if you make another error.
6) Rewind puts your literally 1 second before your error.

I came across this series while looking for tuning help to set up my cars for GRC. I found them helpful and they are easier to understand than T10's in-game textual explanations. FM6 is actually easier since you can watch Telemetry during replays so you're not distracting yourself trying to watch the numbers as you drive.

As an aside, I'm bummed that Turn10 (still!) hasn't put your car stats like power, curb weight, and weight balance in the Tuning sheet. They make good leaps in every iteration of this game and completely overlook simple problems.

edit: personally, gently caress those brake settings - and obviously this isn't an end-all setup, just a nice "3 Minute Tune"

After using the 3-minute tune for most of FH2 and the last couple of weeks, I think the spring settings are the only good baseline settings in that tune and I became lazy about it and realized I didn't know exactly why things should be set properly. So most of the last few days has been studying more and experimenting and I, so far, am liking the results.
