I suspect it's because nerds want to support the utopia (like Star Trek for ex), but most of their social attitudes and political positions would lead to a dystopia (Blomkamp's films)

That's so nice. haha, I love the title saying the mission was a disaster due to "a deadly pathogen", that's a great way to think of capitalists! As much as I dig the Ozymandias, the best line is David's "I learned of their ways . ." perfect set-up for what follows. Which isn't a spoiler, I mean what did we think was gonna happen when they finally confronted elysium?

My dudes, this prologue summarizes the events of Prometheus. Like, that movie is when David learns the ways of these "gods". I doubt that there will be anything new to discover about the Engineers, other than that they had a capital city or wore such and such style of cloak or w/e

By the end of the first film Shaw knows David is dangerous, but doesn't really hold it against him since she recognizes his slavery. She's not stupid, she's emphatic. Plus he is the only means for her to reach the gods and make them answer for what they've done.

They're also both wearing spacesuits. Millburn's is obviously top-of-line, and though Kane's is just regular joe shmoe it's still supposed to withstand the vacuum of space and toxic atmospheres and stuff. Both Shaw and Vickers try running sideways, the ship falls on them anyways because it's loving huge. I wonder what clearly spoken lines in the new blade runner will cause permanent confusion in goons . .

I think the weakest thing in the movie was the aliens. They looked comical and not at all scary. That's different, I would have thought anyone who thought Prometheus' crew was unbelievable would have had a hard time with Covenant's. These aren't "realistic" stories to begin with, but I never found any characters behaviour to be all that strange, even the guys who eat the egg or grab the snake. Oram has faith that David will tell him "what's going on", in much the same way that nerds have faith that Ridley Scott will answer their inane questions about canon!

Did the xenomorphs seem more vicious this time around to anyone else? My initial impression was that they were really pissed off, relentless hunters in Covenant as opposed to the more languid catlike Alien. Oram's offspring being so angry certainly makes sense, bashing itself silly trying to get Tennessee and Daniels. I guess Lope's is jealous of all the surviving couples.Calaveron posted:So if that lady weren't reaching for her gun the fleshy xenomorph wouldn't have attacked her? Kane's spawn is downright lazy. What about the rest? The colonist's hive is pretty methodical about their swarming. The dog in 3 is fast and brutal; it runs around picking off outliers constantly but it doesn't really go after Ripley until she burns it with the mold. Resurrection, they're . . velociraptors that leave traps . . and make out with Weaver and Dourif? I dunno wtf The AvPses are too boring for me to really recall their behaviour. Prometheus' creatures are all tricky, appearing benign at first then revealing hideous strength. Covenant's neos and xenos are like "it's business time" immediately after birth. What's changed?

There were several aliens in this film. David/Walter and Daniels are the main characters. Most of the marines weren't married to each other, it's implied their partners, being only regular colonists, are still on ice. The crew clearly does have the authority to change course to explore better prospects, since that's what they do. General Battuta posted:Have you guys all been over this DVD feature?? The ~fan~ in me likes the added detail on the goo and the suggestion of the Queen, but it feels a bit like the sort of connective tissue Scott has no interest in. I kinda dig it, but Phobos is clearly intended for the fans who were so vocally confused about David and the goo and demanded strict answers. It's a sop to people who can't be pleased in the first place. Unlike the Walter commercial and Last Supper and the Crossing, it's non-canon imo.
