Kettlebells are amazing for accessory work but just lol at using them as your primary workout.

There is a kettlebell gym down in Long Beach that a friend goes to and she loves it but it’s just a variation on CrossFit but only using kettlebells.

Kettlebell Club? I considered that when I moved to the area but settled on a powerlifting gym in North Long Beach. Everyone is huge there

Yeah I think it’s that one. I mean it works for her but it sounds ridiculous.

I think I know which gym you are talking about. They do meets there right?

Sure do. Plus apparently a porn shoot, if yelp reviews can be trusted

I used to be a fan of a Costco salmon half in one sitting and periodically a bag of cowboy bark from trader joes. That took me from underfed twink to dadbod in no time

Depends. Is there a visible skid mark?

It’s bad enough my six year old brings home a sampler platter of every disease out there.

Been mainlining probiotics and vitamins this year and got flu shot which so far has been working somewhat well.

Flu shots are worth it.

In other news, something popped in my hamstring while squatting and I tweaked my back reacting to it, both of which still hurt. Guess it’s upper body movements and treadmill until I’m unbroken

Deloading is maddening. The babby weight I usually lift is a lot compared to the even babbier deload weights

Periodically somebody hurts their back and without fail somebody posts a big rundown of common back injuries and how to treat them. Well now I'm the guy that needs and, but can't remember what the link is. Is anyone kind enough to share that again?

Like, what the hell man, I had a muscle strain there like 2 months ago and took it easy until all was well, and on Sunday bam, same problem, same spot. At least I'm consistent I guess.

Just don't catastrophize because that can actually make the problem worse. Backs are pretty resilient, odds are pretty good it's nothing serious.

What do you mean by you took it easy? did you basically stop doing any lifts that involve your back for a while?

Basically a week off from lifting, then deload from roughly 60%. I’m probably letting my form break down somehow to be honest, it just hasn’t happened in a while so I’m buttmad about doing it twice in succession

Barbell Medicine has a ton of interesting content on back pain, especially on their podcast where they put up recordings of some of their seminars or whatever. Like, the vast majority of it is non-specific(meaning it's real, but hurts for reasons other than injury or tissue damage) and some stupid small number like 2-4% of back pain is actually even disc related.

Bitchin' thanks man, Barbell Medicine was exactly what I was thinking of, I just blanked on the name. It's not my first time at the Snap Your poo poo Up rodeo so I wasn't worried about it being serious but it's nice to review the treatment/training procedure periodically

I'm majorly stoked some of those. Are they true to size? By measurement I'm a small, but uh, that's not usually where I live.

Anyone ITT use or know of anyone that owns any Adidas Primegreen Powerlifting shoes and have any thoughts on them? My brother-in-law got me a pair for Christmas and I'm pretty excited to finally have some lifting shoes.

I use adipower 2s and am reasonably happy. They feel kinda loose at first but do a good job of holding my feet once there’s actual load and I’m moving.

I also pretty much only use them front squats and light back squats though. I found that they didn’t work great for me for low bar knee positioning
