They are absolutely thrilled to have a candidate who is telling them that it's okay to want to lynch the blacks and the gays. And dumb fucks like you keep on apologizing for them, denying that their hatred is real, and acting like they are even right to feel the way they do. You are part of the problem you stupid fucker.

I'm half-Jewish, and while I fully understand that many demographics have it much worse, I am also fully aware that Trump campaigned, in part, on anti-semitism. I like the part where making GBS threads on the entire idea behind the Supreme Court by blocking the President's completely sensible and non-partisan nomination for over a year until you can elect your own guy who will nominate partisan shills is actually a good strategy that works apparently.

Fiction posted:This is a great message to give to poor struggling people and definitely not why we have president trump lol. probably would've been a very different election if the dems would've emphasized more how much Trump's policies would actually hurt his supporters rather than putting all their money in the "racism is bad" basket. also if they had nominated Bernie

right now I'm banking on Trump's poor leadership causing the republican majority to be as flimsy and divided as the dems' majority was, on midterms being good to the democrats, and the remaining SCOTUS justices holding on to dear life until after 2018 when the dems can block nominations right back because this is just what politics are gonna be from now on. then the progressive movement resurgence in reaction to overt fascism will put Elizabeth Warren or someone in the White House and everything will be just peachy rainbows and love also get involved in politics and do stuff to make a difference people, seriously.

Brother Entropy posted:yeah that's probably true After getting less sleep than I should've but still some sleep, getting some caffeine in my system, and sitting through some extremely uncomfortable college classes, I've come around to the fact that yes there are a lot of racists who voted for Trump and racism is very much still alive in America, but the real reason that he won was a failure on the part of party leadership and our political system. The fact that, despite everything, Clinton won the popular vote shows that. Trump is a weak-rear end candidate who happened to stumble into a perfect storm where he could be elevated by the failures of everyone else around him. We're gonna have to deal with the incredibly lovely results of this presidency but hopefully they will also create an oppurtunity to hit back hard. What's important is that you don't tune out of politics until 2020 now.
