Ah well, looking at what's coming this year, it's probably best if I don't have my name on the OP this year.

Man the Frozen short must be awful. I went to the theater today and there was a notice on the door for Coco warning people about the short and telling them when it would be over in relation to the start time if they wanted to skip it.

I hope they replace it with something rather than just axing it though

Also I love the .gifs from that Frozen blog so much.

AV Club tends to be dumb but I just wanted to link to that rather than the actual thing to give a layer between finding out what I was linking and deciding if you actually wanted to see it.

I'm not sure what incredibles 2 has to do with Dreamworks not making any sequels lately but they are still making plenty of sequels. I mean Kung Fu Panda just came out in 2016 so even for Dreamworks that would be a quick sequel (though they are supposedly already starting on Boss Baby 2) and HTTYD3 to is supposedly coming next year.

Also in development are Trolls 2 and Croods 2

Don't the big studios usually only release one movie a year?

DreamWorks hasn't done one a year in awhile (hell, I think they've done as many as four sometimes) but Pixar rambling it up was new and mostly originally had to do with delays that had them put out zero one year. Disney does in fact tend to just do one though

Toads are usually so inoffensive and bland that I'm not even sure how you could minion-ize them without making them feel like a completely different species. That's sorta a part of the whole Mario series, though; the mainline games tend to focus entirely on being fun and charming, with nearly no outright jokes outside of the occasional goofy enemy design. While those games made me happy constantly, they didn't really make me laugh very much, and I can't imagine Illumination giving us a movie without a ton of jokes. That said, Odyssey kinda changed all that. Mario finally got some cartoony and funny animations, and the game is really goofy overall, so there's clearly some potential there.

I mean, have you ever played any of the RPGs? Those have tons of humor.

That being said, I'm not really holding my breath for this movie turning out any good at all.

But Jumanji 2 also has a kid who disappeared, who the town think the parents did something to and has led to them become bitter shut ins and the kid has to hear about it while realizing all he did was sit around drinking rather than doing anything because he was afraid. I mean it's not terribly deep but neither is the stuff you just quoted.

Thinking about it, it seems likely the outer narrative would likely just have to do with his sister wanting to play with his legos and him refusing because he thinks she should stick to her girl toys, and thus the kidnapping of all his favorites but the one one lame guy.
