Rent control is increasingly sounding like the only option left. I think someone in the previous thread had a good argument against it, but his solution was "build more", and now that we can see building more isn't helping, might as well give rent control a shot.

Cop pay should be the index for minimum wage. 60k a year to flip burgers, with a gradual increase to 90k after 5 years? That'd fix the economy quickly and nobody would have to be a cop to become middle class!

Cascadia is a cool name for a chill region like the PNW and it doesn't deserve to be co-opted by racists. There was a time I believed the PNW could secede and bring a more progressive government, but since bernie ran for president, it seems the US is opening up to socialism in general. While I still think it would've been cool to do our own thing, it's irresponsible to leave our newly woke US comrades behind.

It isn't just seattle either. Parts of south everett/mill creek have bounced back from the sub-prime mortgage crisis and then some. I've talked to some real estate agents about it and nobody knows why it's so hot.

Happy Minimum Wage Increase Day, washington state! 50 cents an hour is more than what I would've gotten from my yearly performance review. I gotta hand it to all the scummy small business owners (mostly espresso stands) who have no problem howling about the minimum causing a price increase, but stayed as silent as a sheep when it came to all those other price increases. Transparency only when it suits their interests.

Speaking of weird gifts, Spencer's at the everett mall used to have some really neat weird poo poo 15 years ago, but I went there on a lark a few months ago and it was all halloween masks, anime merchandise, goth merchandise, party lighting and adult gift cards. It's bizarre how much anime in particular has infected the place. I almost bought a one punch man wallet.
