Not really a fan of tweetstorms but this pretty much sums up Trump for me:

https://twitter.com/drvox/status/862373905377492992

He's just firing on all synapses and while he lies, he is not aware that he lies. He's more like a goldfish floating in a fish tank, and because he's basically running entirely on impulse, everyone is confused and seeking conspiratorial (or "4th dimensional chess") explanations for what are a series of haphazard decisions, the justifications for which keep changing by the hour.

Here's an example from an interview with Trump the other day. He says "prime the pump" and then claims credit for coining the phrase, even though you can look it up and see Trump using the phrase for months. But is Trump lying? Not really. It just felt good in the moment and there's no rationale to it.

quote:

Another part of your overall plan, the tax reform plan. Is it OK if that tax plan increases the deficit? Ronald Reagan’s tax reform didn’t.

Trump: Well, it actually did. But, but it’s called priming the pump. You know, if you don’t do that, you’re never going to bring your taxes down. Now, if we get the health-care [bill through Congress], this is why, you know a lot of people said, “Why isn’t he going with taxes first, that’s his wheelhouse?” Well, hey look, I convinced many people over the last two weeks, believe me, many Congressmen, to go with it. And they’re great people, but one of the great things about getting health care is that we will be saving, I mean anywhere from $400bn to $900bn.

Mr Mnuchin: Correct.

Trump: That all goes into tax reduction. Tremendous savings.

But beyond that it’s OK if the tax plan increases the deficit?

Trump: It is OK, because it won’t increase it for long. You may have two years where you’ll…you understand the expression “prime the pump”?

Yes.

Trump: We have to prime the pump.

It’s very Keynesian.

Trump: We’re the highest-taxed nation in the world. Have you heard that expression before, for this particular type of an event?

Priming the pump?

Trump: Yeah, have you heard it?

Yes.

Trump: Have you heard that expression used before? Because I haven’t heard it. I mean, I just…I came up with it a couple of days ago and I thought it was good. It’s what you have to do.

Russia's motivations are not exactly difficult to discern. They want a freer hand in what they consider their sphere of influence, they want to make the most money possible as they dominate the European energy market, and they want their government to look strong and capable of thwarting the U.S.
Yep. Embarrassing the U.S. or generally doing things without the 500-pound American gorilla thwarting them is popular with Russians. They may think their government is full of crooks but those moves, at least, still get support and it's understandable. Russians were popping champagne bottles on the Moscow subway after the invasion of Crimea not just because Russia managed to pull it off, but because the U.S. couldn't do anything about it.

What matters is the Trump admin's efforts to derail the FBI, grand juries, etc. which over time and in combination will amount to obstruction of justice.

Nixon didn't face impeachment because of the Watergate hotel break-in specifically. It was the other things that happened and developed because of Nixon's paranoia, secrecy and win-at-all-costs personality. But the difference is that Nixon was a highly-skilled political strategist while Trump is impulsive and doesn't understand how the government works.

quote:

President Trump on Friday warned James B. Comey, the former F.B.I. director he fired this week, against leaking anything negative about the president and put the news media on notice that he may cancel future White House briefings.

In a series of early-morning posts on Twitter, Mr. Trump even seemed to suggest that there may be secret tapes of his conversations with Mr. Comey that could be used to counter the former F.B.I. director if necessary. It was not immediately clear whether he meant that literally, or simply hoped to intimidate Mr. Comey into silence.

“James Comey better hope that there are no ‘tapes’ of our conversations before he starts leaking to the press!” Mr. Trump wrote on Twitter.

The Moon is the card of dreams and the unconscious. It depicts a gate flanked by two towers illuminated by the sun, with the pool representing the subconscious mind as a crayfish crawls out into the light. The dog and wolf are the tamed and wild aspects of the mind. Beyond the tower in the mountains is the unconsciousness.

On 9/11 the towers were destroyed which obliterated the division between consciousness and unconsciousness, and the division between dreams and reality. Humanity entered into a period of darkness and madness.

Trump = mobster is obvious just from the way he speaks, which is not how he always spoke (when he was younger), as he picked it up through osmosis by being the "legitimate" face for various organized crime interests, mainly money laundering through high-end real estate. It is simply not possible to be where he is and have been in the business he was without being connected to gangsters.

the funny thing is I suspect this has a resonance with a lot of Americans who identify with roguish crooks hence the popularity of The Sopranos, Goodfellas, Scarface, etc.

Quite a stretch!
now that trump admitted to sharing info, i see your narrative shifting to justify what he did instead of denying it. but the fact that the white house was caught so off-guard and was sending mixed messages, at the very least, shows utter incompetence in this disaster of a presidency

we first go to an election night party for a (hispanic) socialist city council candidate (who won) and while they weren't happy, they were more level-headed and steely about it. mostly hispanic and black crowd. like "drat. it's over. oh well" and onwards with the people's struggle.

after that, after stopping to pick up some food, we drove to a house with their (white) feminist friends. walk in we meet a group of people wearing hillary t-shirts sitting shell-shocked and weepy around a TV. i immediately recognized this situation as not good so made a hasty retreat into the garage to eat my meal. later one of the girls grabbed a trump pinata and a baseball bat, ran into the backyard and started smashing it on the ground while screaming YOU SON OF A BITCH! as the bat made a WHAP WHAP WHAP sound.

I mean there will be eventually because in recent history the Islamic terrorists have had their act together more. But the Nazis are giving it a go. I believe the Nazi-perpetrated body count is at least five if you count the Nazi guy who was also a jihadi who killed other Nazis. And it's statistically plausible there's a future mass casualty attack in the planning stages out there somewhere.
