The One Love concert on BBC1 has been surprisingly good - even if you don't enjoy the acts themselves i think in the context of last night and everything the message has been very positive. Which is something this country has seemed to be lacking recently.

How about compulsary voting. Make an option for 'none of the above'. Or how about direct democracy done using an app, or for those watching at home, the red button.

PostNouveau posted:As an American, I've been really confused that this hasn't happened already. All the UKIP ministers are gone, it's a loving terrible idea to begin with, the Conservatives will be negotiating with a shaky mandate. I'm sure most of the Tory MPs know it's ruinous for the UK anyway. Why is anyone going along with it? All the votes that transferred from ukip after they agreed to leave the EU would disappear. Politicians are in the business of winning elections.

I mean, I knew that it's happened before plenty, and I was technically alive and aware in the 90s, but I'm still finding this all a bit surreal. And frankly a bit disturbing, too - as bad as this looks for the Tories, I hate the feeling of the country being so loving rudderless. The sooner Corbs and Labour take over the better - obviously because of their policies, but also just because some stability and forward momentum would be nice. The best part is that they aren't even really a government. The country is falling apart and no one is at the wheel lol
