I wonder who is going to foot the bill for repairing water and wind damage in Florida and Texas. Kidding, I know it will be every federal taxpayer. At least the local residents got their couple of years of low taxes while waiting for substandard infrastructure to be replaced for them by the Feds. Don't let anyone tell you there isn't something to be gained by kicking the can down the road.

Given that Ted "People don't have the right to stimulate their genitals" Cruz and the rest of Christian conservatism are living one massive puritanical lifestyle lie, I can understand how someone like Cruz can convince himself that others really believe he's some kind of saint. I was really betting on the excuse "My media intern messed up, please, he is young, don't harangue him too much." That's at least remotely believable. This whole "I googled 'porn' for my wife and this is definitely one of the first results" is bull if you think of it even a little.

DR's reading of the case is probably not far off, sadly. I don't think he's defending the decision either, just outlining how this ruling was justified. Related: going straight for murder charges doesn't seem to be getting us anywhere because there seem to be an abundance of citizens and judges who find it reeeeal hard to get over the necessary burden of a murder case. In the end, if we have a short-term goal (under GOP rule) of keeping homicidal psychopathic nationalists out of the force while providing a credible deterrence to brutality, is there another charge we can hypothetically throw at murderous cops that is both easier to convict and guarantees someone will never serve with law enforcement again?

Remember, VA is one of the most progressive states in the south but when it comes to guns it's basically anarchy. The cops were being deliberately overcautious and as it turned out basically no Confederates showed up; there were a tiny handful who got jeered at by the crowd and then their tires got slashed and they had to call a tow truck and go home. Then a couple more showed up late and got told their friends already left. So turns out transforming my neighborhood into the loving Green Zone wasn't really needed, but better safe than sorry I guess. Not that I don't believe you, but where are you getting this?

Jesus, today, even as the GOP is trying to force an Obamacare repeal down the nation's throat despite such action having less than 20% approval rating, people are criticising Obama for being unable to appoint Garland. I don't know what's wrong with you, because God, Country, and the Second Amendment stood between Garland and the Scalia seat, even despite his more moderate jurisprudence than successful appointments Sotomoyer and Kagan. Obama's appointment notice was not going to be opened by the judicial committee, period, end of story. You cannot bully the Christian Right into yielding on this such that 60 senatorial votes could provide necessary override. This was never going to happen. Senators would have to have been threatened violently or assassinated for Garland to fill a SCOTUS seat.

So, what happened recently that's getting leftists particularly vile? We're continuing to gain support for Medicare for All, we're continuing to primary in the states waaaay better than we did in 2014 and 2016, the Dems are holding the line against ACA repeal without any traitors so far, I'm seeing a new face in my DSA chapter every week.... what's the bee in your collective bonnets? Your attitude only really makes sense if someone is actually saying "I'm not going to vote for Democrats because of this", but simply expressing dissatisfaction as long as your political goals aren't being met is completely reasonable. Yeah the dissatisfaction isn't my issue, its the wholesale "Dems are worthless" that's a problem. There is a wide set of people under the leftmost tents, and the ones poisoning our revolution are the ones that come across like propaganda / falseflag bots. I'm on board with the rest of your post. fyi you're talking to a malcomite, I understand wholly where we cannot cease pushing for better. I'm saying we can do that without circle jerking about "Well the Dems don't offer us much better" when that is objectively false on nearly every issue of import.
