The new Kent infection that's being reported today is near me, in Maidstone Studios - a big office building with people coming and going from all over the place because they also record TV shows there.

A lot of our IT dept. are coughing, and hand sanitiser has become mandatory.

Due to some work culture thing - e.g. food free for all on Fridays, if one person in IT has it, we probably all have it.

(I'm not at Maidstone studios)

My mortgage situation is sorted, so this is really about the morality of the whole thing than the pragmatics. I'm currently renting but I don't mind it taking months as long as my current place doesn't insist on a full year's contract and lets me roll with a couple of months notice before leaving.

IANAL, but isn't, "It's my house, and I'd like to live in it now" one of the easiest ways to get tenants out?

Yeah. Maybe I'm biased because we first lived in India, and then in the countryside, but we've always been a shoes-off family.

I had a look at the Vallejo colour charts, and notice that they don't list pigment numbers - do any of the miniature paint brands?

Basically pigment has a number - e.g. PB29 is Ultramarine blue, regardless of what the brand calls it, whether that's French Ultramarine (winsor and newton) or Ultramarine Deep (Sennellier).

Or for instance, Winsor and Newton's professional range has cobolt blue as PB28 - a pure colour, whereas their student range (Cotman) has it as PB29, PW5 - our old friend Ultramarine mixed with a white pigment, which means the two colours will most likely behave differently. Another example would be Cerulean - professional it's PB35, student it's PB15 - also more usually known as Phthalo Blue.

Just got the official email from work. All business related travel, client meetings and roadshows cancelled. Work from home rota being introduced to check that we can support everyone (we upgraded the VPN today). New anti-viral cleaning solution being used, and mandatory 'go the gently caress home' policy for anyone who shows up with a cold.

Our work is still in the passive-aggressive "Make your own drat mind up" phase when it comes to going home.

They have finally put piles of paper towels in the loos rather than expecting everyone to spray germs around off their improperly washed hands with the dryer. There's so much hand wash that there's never been a better time to start drinking at work.

Going by the WHO chart I've had CV symptoms for at least a week. I have also been in work all that week.

Serves them right for having a passive-aggressive sickness policy and leaving it to us to decide if we should stay home or not

Weird thing around here is that all the big shops have empty bogroll shelves but all the little ones have tons. I'm assuming there's going to be some fascinating psychological papers about this at some point.

Yesterday I went into town to see if by chance Tescos had any (I did actually need some, not getting my Hamsterkauf on), and walked past one of the newsagent owners unloading boxes of Andrex out of his car - must have just done a cash 'n' carry run. As I was paying he told his wife to put a sign out saying that they have TP.

Today there are people camping the TP aisle in Tescos as if they're hoping some will spawn.

Looks like they blocked in an alleyway to build that.

When I was houseshopping I looked at a terrace that was noticeably narrower than its neighbours. Comically the listing described it as an ideal place for a new family. You would only just have been able to fit a double bed into the main bedroom, and there literally wasn't the space to swing a cat in the building.

The bathroom had something that wasn't a bath or a shower, rather a sort of tiny, deep, corner-tub.

It's certainly long-running and bizarre symptoms.

I have had exactly the same thing for nearly three weeks now. No temperature at all though. (My normal is about 36.4 from a mouth thermometer), and yeah, CV is dry cough.

Mum's a nurse. She got a survey that pretended to be about training needs. It asked which areas of nursing she felt confident practicing in. The survey's veil tore down at the point where each question corresponded exactly to each of the major wards in the county's largest hospital.

Friend of mine who's a nurse got that a couple of weeks ago. She's got experience with critical patients*, which I don't know if it's good or bad for her.

*Tubed up and mostly unconscious. She didn't like it because you're mostly just making sure that the machines continue to go ping rather than dealing with people as people, though she said that at least she was on a ward where they were generally expected to get better rather than worse.

When I worked at F&C in Exchange House, London (amazing wierd looking building with a suspension exoskeleton rather than full foundations) the inside of the cargo lift had the codes for all the floors written on it with marker pen, over and over again as security guards for different companies would notice and cross off their company's codes, or the codes would change, and then the delivery people would update the lift.
