I go mountain biking a lot and horses get really freaked out by people on bikes. So any time we encounter horse riders on the trail we have to stop, get off our bikes, take off our helmets, and start talking so the horses don't throw their rider and kick us in the head. If you do everything exactly right they'll jut leave a gigantic pile of poo poo in the trail for you.

So I can see why people might not be a fan of horses.

I also go mountain biking a lot and i get stopping, but the rest of it seems a tad excessive. have you had some pretty bad experiences when you didnt do that or something?

Specifically one time we just pulled over to let a horse rider come by and the horse reared up on two legs and freaked the rider out. The rider got off, tried to lead the horse past us, and started cussing at us for being on the trail.

I don't know if all that extra stuff we do makes a difference. We just don't want to haul anyone out of the woods to a waiting ambulance.

Edit: For as much as the horse riders seem to hate sharing the trails with us I can remember exactly one rider that would come around with sugar cubes and ask the mountain bikers to try feeding her horse in an attempt to acclimate it. The one time I tried it the horse nabbed the sugar cube from my hand and literally jumped away. So I'm not sure it helped much.

It's not a great way to state it because it makes it sound like him being racist was a good thing, but Reagan and much of his ilk were so terrified of armed black men that they pushed an agenda of gun control. The only real problem is framing it as a credit to Reagan.

Were people really reading that as, "Thank goodness California had a racist governor when those uppity black panthers showed up with guns."? I read it as "The time Regan played himself" but maybe that's because I was already familiar with the story.
