For movies (and sometimes other stuff) I recommend adding The Armchair Auteur (Dominic Griffin) a guy who does pretty concise reviews of both current and older stuff and covers a fun range of genres.

A couple of videos that I think are pretty good:

I like Dan Olson's videos well enough but his posts here and on twitter frequently show that he really benefits from putting in the time to write and edit a script before giving his thoughts on something. When he's just typing up something off the cuff he puts his foot in his mouth frequently.

I’m having trouble with “Superman did a bad job protecting the city in his fight with Zod, therefore he’s an emotionless sociopath who hates all life”, though.

Yeah, Cavill's Superman is a character who is constantly second-guessing himself. There's definitely some tonal whiplash at the end of MoS when it jumps to the drone scene but right before that he's definitely pretty upset about things.

Jesus christ saying that trans celebrities are illegitimate because they have money is like a hair's breadth away from saying that being trans is mere bourgeois decadence that must be swept away, something real nazis do say every day to redirect class tensions toward vulnerable populations that get brutalized and murdered every day. In fact, it's basically shading class reductionism into red-brown progression fascism and if Coffin weren't so stupid and petty I'd say it's deliberate.

It actually reminds me a ton of what LF was like on here towards the end of it's life. I definitely remember a few people trying really hard to find a way to make hating gay people and feminists a leftist position.

I think if your making a video that goes over 30-45 minutes then you have to be really compelling in your presentation or be talking about something really interesting to justify the length.

Quinton's biggest issue is that most of his videos are on things that just aren't worth talking about for more than 30 minutes and he isn't much variety in the way he talks about stuff so it gets pretty boring the longer it goes on.

It's "useful" in the sense that it's meant to give a simple descriptor to the kind of weaponized gish gallop tactic early GG engaged in, or the threat of that by dozens of accounts messaging you at once, but like seemingly every other social justice-rooted slang term it quickly gets re-appropriated and misused. Conflating GGers with the immutable nature of being a sea lion doesn't work and they could've done something like "clowns" or "people with silly hats" or something else wacky and it would've worked better.

I don't know about all of you but I am EXTREMELY disappointed by Marshall Applewhite's (the streamer, not the dead cult leader) recent behavior. He was live streaming his reactions to old episodes of The Monkees and said some very disturbing comments about Davy Jones's haircut that I will not repeat here. And of course his half-assed apology the next day accomplished nothing and everything spiralled into a big Twitter argument between him, Georgie Big Boy, and MegaMan Hex, who are both likely shutting down their YouTube channels for awhile so they don't have to deal with this toxic nonsense. The Monkees fandom community cannot withstand another big split like this, especially not so soon after the incident between Rude Batman and Xander Berkeley Jr.
