It's basically treated as a big sidequest chain, accessible whenever you want, with whatever items and progress you have. It's basically just another node on the world map.

It really really doesn't break anything. There are some decent items but nothing outlandishly powerful, and the missions aren't easy enough for it to be easy exp or money either. They're just... More missions.

Each of them buys different things. It allows you to have a variety of possible rewards and an easier way to balance different kinds of unlocks without having to do consider different pricing structures if you used a single currency.

There's multiple places on the internet that treat the very name of the game as a curse word and refer to only as "that wizard game" and that's just absolutely ridiculous. Not saying Hogwarts Legacy is a good game or anything, it's exceptionally mediocre, but treating it as some sort of ultimate enemy is silly.

It's okay but not worth full price, it got massively overinflated press due to being one of a very small number of PS5 exclusives. Like it's not a bad game by any means but considering the year we're having it's very low priority.

Trying it now and after some initial confusion I realized the game is a lot more straightforward than it appears. I feel like it does itself a disservice in not having a smoother tutorial/onboarding experience. But I played enough on a blindly created human knight guy in the easiest mode to understand what's going on and am going to restart on the "slightly harder than easy" difficulty. There's something kinda wild about a roguelike deckbuilder that's structured more like an open world RPG.

ShadowMar posted:nah, with the new DLC characters, 4 will have just under double the roster of 3 Huh? It had controller support for me (although it didn't have proper button icons without a mod, lol). Also I just checked the wikis and counted, while 4 does have more characters than 3 with the DLC, it's not double, it's 10 more. 3 had 46, 4 has 56. Charitably 58 if you include Boundman and Snakeman. Because a handful of characters got cut between games too, including pre-timeskip versions of a couple of the Strawhats. And the pre-TS versions ARE different enough to be their own characters. Movesets are also a lot more simplified in PW4, the best part about PW3 was always the fact that it had two full combo trees per character, so there's less depth per character.

The war between Rise fans and World fans is never ending. I'm on the side of World mostly because it had the absolute best Lance experience in the entire series, and because I really enjoyed doing more Hunting in Monster Hunter for a change. Rise just felt kinda sterile in comparison.

It's not like you the player need to put even a single thought into it. If anything the one braincell it takes to look at the map in Rise and decide what path you want to take is more engaging. Eh you also gather footprints and sludge and stuff. I thought it was more fun than "look at map, see where monster is, use basically infinite wirebug mobility to jump over there in 3 seconds, or ride dog if too lazy for even that". It's just personal taste.

disposablewords posted:I can't speak to more than just my experience, but playing GE1 and 2 on PC a few years ago had no technical issues. Also, buying GE2 on Steam comes with GE1 automatically, they're a package deal. On one hand you're correct the GE1 plot tends a bit darker and moodier and since it's technically a later game in terms of release date it has some QoL features that you REALLY feel the lack of when moving to 2. On the other hand, in GE2 you eventually unlock a super mode that requires you to accomplish moderately difficult requirements during a fight (that you pick for yourself), has a lot of buildup and when it finally starts up it plays this insanely cheesy song https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RFkUPAbpqE4 So I still gotta give it up for GE2 in the end. Also I can't believe no one mentioned all three GE games have this absolutely insane bullet customization feature that lets you make your own crazy anime shot patterns. They will mostly suck worse than just shooting a normal bullet unless you follow a guide, but they can be SO FANCY.

My two cents on specifically soulslike difficulty is that the reason it can't have all those cheats and sliders by default is invasions. It'd really gently caress with the already poorly balanced PvP mechanics. I guess turning on the cheats menu would lock you out of multiplayer of all kinds and it would kinda work? Because even in co-op I think it'd be kinda lame if I asked for help and got someone who turned on the invincibility ultra kill cheat and just instantly deleted the boss.
