How much of this devastation was the work of the explosion?

It's hard to tell but these look like T-62 tanks from what is left of the roadwheels and the presence of empty shell cases which anything more modern does not have. I think this was some kind of improvised artillery battery lobbing shells roughly in the direction of the enemy.

At 0:35 you can see a bunch of dart like Armor Piercing projectiles lying around like they stripped them off their shell casings.

They will need sitting ducks for artillery I think too.

In summary, a 75 year-old obsolete tank rushedi into service with poor optics, poor situational awareness and probably poor comms manned by a crew with barely any training and a command that doesn't give a poo poo.

It may just be to provide something to units who lost all their proper artillery and need something to lob shells at that town they have been trying to take for eight months.
Nothing relevant is actually hit but at least the illusion is there of the enemy being attacked. Whenever the Russians do something like this it's graft, a Potemkin solution or usually both.

I get the impression the Uralvagonzavod crew was quite good at waiting for the new designs from the big brains at Morozov in Kharkiv, see what does not yet work, replace that with proven older tech and then deliver a 'new' tank quicker and cheaper.
But when they have to come up with their own T-95 or T-14 designed from scratch they put even more unproven cutting edge vaporware tech into it and end up infinitely worse. And now without another design bureau to do what they did and produce something that kind of works.

The pro-Russian propaganda campaign on Youtube is interesting to watch unfold. This channel which was just about the cars various African celebrities were driving got hijacked at some point and starts posting UKRAINE WILL LOSE posts:

But whatever script is generating the sharing of stuff from one channel to the other has a bug where sometimes the '5 minutes ago' timestamp from Youtube gets put into the title. All the good coders must have left Russia by now.

Watch the loss of Bakhmut get pinned on him.

Speaking of Wagner, do they have their own artillery batteries which are sitting idle as they get no ammo or are all his requests for fire missions from the regular Russian forces being ignored/denied?

Speaking of weapons sales, idk if it was posted itt bur the us ambassador to South Africa openly accused sa of selling arms to Russia, on that ship Lady R whose visit everyone was wondering about

It's a weird story. SA has no Soviet or Russian made equipment except what was captured decades ago from the Cubans and Soviet supplied forces they fought. It does have an arms industry and Denel seems to make 7,62x39 ammo for AK's but if Russia is out of small arms ammo and needs to sail across the world to buy some they are so much more hosed then anyone can imagine,
Maybe Wagner or another PMC would go out with suitcases of cash to find stuff from anyone willing to sell, even without the government knowing about it.

The Kinzhal is supposed to be impossible to intercept because of the speed at which it travels and it got shot down by a sleeping 30 year old piece of tech that wasn't even looking for targets

It's supposed to be maneuvering as well as going very fast. Scud missiles (or V2's) were already going very fast 60 years ago but could be intercepted on their ballistic trajectories by tweaking the interception parameters. A missile designed to explode around the front of an aircraft where the pilot sits misses a ballistic missile by quite a lot without any adjustments. But with the right timing it can put a cloud of shrapnel perfectly well in front of a missile. The answer to this would be have the missile change course several times on approach so the intercepting SAM cannot get to that one place where, for a few milliseconds, it can successfully intercept.

Kinzhal was supposed to be that answer. But going extremely fast and also changing course is quite difficult to do and maybe it's just an Iskander ballistic missile that was modified to be launched from a plane at 10 times the cost after all. After getting a few seconds of radar data the computer can predict perfectly where a ballistic missile will go and calculate an interception. You still need a lot of very advanced tech to do the interception successfully where every microsecond counts but no humans are needed for this. No one could manually do this anyway.

I have no idea if this is a diversion, preparation for a bigger push, a crowdfunded invasion by Russian exiles/oligarchs or just trolling by Ukraine. The statements 'those armored vehicles can be bought anywhere' does suggest the latter as a reference to Russian claims all those modern battle tanks and SAM systems were just grabbed back in '14 by Donetsk miners and workers from depots when they declared 'independence'.

It's real dumb. None of these countries have the least interest in getting these territories back. Hell, after the breakup of the USSR Finland was offered to buy back Karelia and refused. Why would they want to annex a couple of million Russians and a region with substantially lower GDP than their median? The same applies to all the other territories marked as occupied there - Except, obviously, the recently occupied Ukrainian ones.

I think several EU states would happily pay a big sum to get Russia out of Kaliningrad.

Now that NATO has no more weapons and ammo Russia can unleash their real army, not the old crap they sent to Ukraine.
