I dunno, I kind of like SO3. Yeah there's dumb garbage like MP Death, the story is stupid as all get out, most of the characters are awful (except Cliff), but.. I dunno. I find it fun.

I really liked Adventures of Hourai High. It wasn't "great", but it had a neat class system tied in with school clubs, had a story that wouldn't have felt out of place in Cromartie High and didn't overstay its welcome.

NikkolasKing posted:So VP1 is better than 2? By how much? They're pretty different. VP2 is kinda linearish and has a similar battle system to the first but in 3D, on a map, with move-as-you-move placement, group splitting, all sorts of weird things. Also some of the most impressive graphics on the PS2, hands down. It's really hard to compare them, but I'm very fond of VP2. Also Resonance of Fate is kind of another instance of VP/VP2's battle system.

Or is it the Star Ocean thing where they are only vaguely connected and you can jump in any time? Mmm.. it's somewhat important. You could get away with reading a synopsis, but an LP of the original would be ideal. It's still a really good game, too.

There was a good LP of it not long back. I think by DarkHamsterlord. The gameplay seemed pretty ho-hum, but it oozed charm in its visuals and writing.

I couldn't get through ten hours of Dean shouting out LET'S HAVE A LOOKSIE, LET'S TAKE A LOOK AROUND, LET'S HAVE A LOOKSIE or the stupid-rear end noises he made on ladders or.. aaaugh. I just hate Dean. Chuck and Greg were good, though.

The framerate, load times and all the sprites/background pieces looking like someone tried to take the background out of a GIF killed the PSP port for me. Shame, because it's a really good game that I enjoyed and the PSP version was the only way to play it here.

The Gagharv trilogy is.. well, they're pretty standard RPGs. Their pull is the charm they have, but the English versions have botched-rear end translations curtosy of old Namco, which strips them of anything they had going for them. They also released them out of order, if I remember right.

Specifically, if you're using your own archive copy of the game (i.e., you ripped it) and the same for the BIOS/OS files if that system needs them then you're about as much in the clear as you can be, and nobody cares anyway. There's threads on PSP, Wii/GC and PS2 emulation.

It's possible. The Android/iOS version uses Unity, so portability isn't a huuuuge undertaking. I'd love a re-release of DQ8 that eliminated the loadtimes.

But at this point, I'm seriously tired of giving estimates and not be able to meet because of this or that, and I'm sure you're tired of it as well, because it creates a certain expectation, and it's frustrating when it doesn't happen. So for the time being, no estimations. We're logging around 100 hours a week in order to get it as soon as possible, but as I said before, and will always say, quality comes first and the game will be done when it's done. Please just hang in there for a bit longer. it's coming.

SO4 had the same thing with Meracle, once she learned Drill Spike and X-Claw you just used those and won everything.

PSIII is bit of a pickle. While it's aged a little less roughly than PSII (those loving teleporter mazes and loving overhead pipes and loving grindathon) it wasn't nearly as good to begin with. It has really neat ideas, which funnily enough kind of coincide with DQ5, but ultimately I'd say maybe read the LP on the archive and play PSIV again, because it's the best 16-bit RPG.
