Messed with in a good way. One of the Omega reputation traits adds a DoT to kinetic weapons based on how much hits the hull (through the shields), making transphasic weapons all the more effective.

So lately I've been getting a hankering to rebuild my Fed Dyson ship into something I can tool around more regularly. There isn't any advice on builds for dyson ships on the wiki, so I wanted to ask what you guys have done with yours. Do they work if you kit them out with DHCs and turrets, or do you have to stick to the beam-heavy science build?

To be frank, I either go with the science version and fly it like a science-heavy sci-Vesta (Gravity Well builds, Tyken's builds, etc.) or stick with the tactical version (and build it like a Temporal Destroyer / S'Golth Escort).

But yeah, Romulan DSDs are far more wowing with their battle cloaks and full Superior Operative boff crews, like most things Romulan.

Good news: the Luxury Liner only costs 40 Pearls if you have the Liner on another character already. Same with the Corvette and any previously-owned one.
EDIT: Sadly, the third engine doesn't copy the other two properly, but you can turn it off if you wish and use only two engines.

Shame the turret-boosting clicky set ability is pretty useless in PVE though.
I don't really get all the hate on the Dyson Science Destroyers. On paper, the tactical one seems better than the Mobius and S'Golth in most respects, except perhaps for the fused DHCs and bridge officer slots.

I would, however, make mention of LaForge's creepy holorelationship with Dr. Leigh Brahms. And Barclay's implied-to-be-weird holofantasies. What about Nog's "favorite holoprogram?" Then there was pretty much the entire crew of Voyager. Remember Tuvok's Pon'Farr? I also remember multiple instances of bat'leth foreplay between Dax and Worf (not to mention Worf and Troi taking a "stimulating" walk on the beach...). OH, and didn't Commander Tucker get knocked up in a holodeck? Yeah, safe bet the holodecks could use a touch of romance somewhere, even if only implied.

Voyager is more consistent with STO gameplay, however, given the "magic reset button" of respawning, the pitiable strength of the Borg, no persistent ship damage (unless at higher difficulties), and pillaging the loot out of your fallen enemies.

Yes, but they don't have the same effect they once did. People would use the engines because they would give a flat power boost to all systems, making them more useful than higher-mark engines. That, and mission replays didn't give scaled-up items.

Are the Tal'Shiar Adapted Destroyer/Cruiser worth getting?
There's one niche they still fit in well with, though it's a narrow one. On a Federation (not FedRom), they're the only ships that can cloak without being dependent on consoles to do so. Sensor Analysis is a boon to it as well, but as previously stated, it's a battle cloak, and there are more interesting Lock Box and Lobi ships out there. That said, I still like the Adapted Battle Cruiser on one of my Feds. It makes for a surprisingly useful and flexible ship, able to switch from tactical cruiser to healboat (for when the stars are in alignment and one is needed) or sci-harassment just by changing the universals.
