For the crimes of mildly annoying myself and Yoderfunk, as well as failure to follow instructions or pay attention properly, followed by whining that my dead simple instructions on what foundry to do needed more instructions on how to do it, I assigned one of our Academy cadets to write a 375 word report on how to properly pour piss from a boot with instructions printed on the heel. He completed his task and it's time we pass judgement over his performance while he is off doing the Starfleet Dental Aptitude Test. Uziduke posted:I tried this game when it first came out and it was back when my PC sucked and it was unplayable. I am a huge Star Trek fan and would like to play if I had a group of people to play with. Biggest questions is that I have a gambling issue in games sometimes and I am afraid the item mall boxes will break me, how bad are they? Gambling on lockboxes in this game is one of the stupidest things you can possibly do. Rather better to take the keys needed to open said boxes, sell them on the player market, and profit off gambling addicts, then use the money earned to buy your desired items. If you can keep that in mind and take advice on the most blatant space-money traps you will be fine. As to a group to play with, several of us are still active regularly.

Uziduke posted:I assume that its like Neverwinter and you get box drops and even lower %key drops. So you say to sell the keys and its good profit? Also do Star Trek Goons take total newbies of the game? The keys are a cash shop item, but you can earn cash shop point things with space money (dilithium). Also yes, we take grass green people. I would strongly advise to play a fed or a romulan alligned with fed. You will need to get a quite expensive console for it later, but close to nobody plays a KDF anymore.

There is still a few weird First Contact background boats and Wolf 359 kitbash designs that they could polish up and integrate with ease to satisfy a bit of demand there. Not to mention close-canon novel designs or some of the "fanon" ones created by people working on the show such as a Nebula-style version of the Ambassador and whatnot. Though their new trend seems to be release pointy saucer oddy inspired toys one after the other.

They ended killing NPCs on ESD/Qo'nos, and I'm pretty sure they stopped the D'Deridex console trick which made DS9 so fun. They even killed cover shields on Risa. The dex console actually still does work in some areas. Such as sphere allied space or delta command space. Said console is now available to feds as well, maybe KDF too, via the exchange.

FrostyJones posted:So, against my better judgement I went ahead and updated after getting one of those "Please come back to us! " emails from Cryptic. And while it does feel nice to be shooting spacemans and spaceships again... There's been a lot of changes since I've last played, so I have some dumb questions: First question: The red alert popups in sector give a load of XP and you can instance hop to keep them going. Doffing is a good secondary still. Second question: Still just that one with Barclay's daughter or whatever that you can run in 10 minutes or less. Third question: Dyson ground zone, and when that gets boring, the space battlezone against Voth. The mini-missions given by small KDF base thing just forward of your ship when you beam up from the ground zone take all of 2 minutes and each give 480 dil (720 during dil weekends) with absolutely no cooldowns. There is a few other scattered NPC quest givers around the space zone as well. For contraband, same old doffing on KDF, or if you aren't terrible, you can also contra farm as a fed. This works by doing things like confiscate contraband, investigating contra trafficking, investigating illegal gambling, intercepting transmissions, or tracking fleet movements. All of the above give contra. Fourth question: This depends on market rates, for example during promo events those can be a better investment. Check the exchange.

DonDoodles posted:I only had limited contact with him while he was in the Dental academy (rail's dealt with him much more) but he seemed extremely off, to the point where it wasn't funny, just a chore to talk to the guy. He also got very, very aggressive over non-issues. If that's how he reacted to things in a game, God knows how broken he is in real life. Pretty damned broken. The guy has a string of mental issues as long as my arm ranging from OCD to severe anger management problems with a load of other crap thrown in. Edited this section, because I got details: The details are apparently that he assaulted and choked someone. Honestly I cannot think of why someone would make up things like a dishonorable discharge or such without some reason, but at the same time, his list of crazy would hopefully have been caught during recruitment screening. He also spends immense amounts of cash on the game apparently to basically buy everything with real money, and compulsively will upgrade any item he gets to gold regardless what it is because of the mental issues. Where he gets said money I have no idea, but he seems to have it given that I have seen him gold plain old vendor loot plenty of times. My best guess is either rich family or some sort inheritance but nothing definite. Other than that, he at times claimed to have several replacement keyboards, mice, and monitors on hand because he loses his poo poo over trivial stuff and smashes his things regularly, which given his crazy I don't have too much reason to doubt, as no one normal would want that sort of stupidity to their name. Regardless, the guy is completely nuts and what little entertainment value he has quickly wears off due to the blatant crazy. Goat Pillager fucked around with this message at 14:49 on Aug 19, 2015 |

At the same time though, I did find him in game and give him the rightful EV suit hosing he deserved, but he seems to contain his crazy to the STO forums or places completely unconnected to the game. All he did was stop, target me, then run over to the bank terminal for a bit and beamed to a que. Edit: I also remember he had some ragequitting STO thread after his thread petitioning to make his character an NPC got set on fire. And all of this over a bad Star Trek game they claim to not play, but log in to to slot bad projects on the starbase to mess with goons, and otherwise just whines about the game?
