I'm kind of hating how some games give you some kind of title or status but then don't actually reflect it in the game. Like becoming the number one champion or mercenary or leader of a faction and the game doesn't even change dialogs.

Again with AC:Odyssey, but at one point you become like queen of the amazons but said amazons don't even recognize you and you still are expected to rob and murder them. You become the worlds number one mercenary and every merc you run across in the world calls you a scrub and tells you how inexperienced you are. You kill fifty of the main cabal of bad guy leaders and the remaining story treats you like you're just finding out who they are and the organization still acts like it's unharmed and invulnerable.

There's a super small but funny version of doing this right in the knights of nine expansion for oblivion of all places. At the beginning of the quest a prophet is asking for volunteers to become one of the knights, if your the arena champion you can use that to show why you should be able to join. He smacks you down for suggesting that killing people for money and fame makes you qualified to join a holy order. It was hilarious.

It almost wasn't! If I'm remembering correctly, Warren Spektor had to fight to keep the pistol in the game, because some of the other devs wanted to get rid of it.

If your quick enough you can actually follow Walton Simmons down to the holding cells and watch him interrogate the NSF soldiers leftover. I'm pretty sure he kills them when he's done with em. Its been a while though so that might not be true

Just for the record the ps2 version of re4 was in development before the GameCube game had been released, it was the lack of commercial success of capcoms previous games on that platform that made them make that move. For example how many of you realized re2 and 3 have GameCube ports.

Dishonored 2 the visual fidelity really works against this game, it's easy to see important things in your deus exes and theifs. This game has so much random clutter and crap everywhere combined with actual non blocky polygons can make it exceedingly frustrating to actually find the things of import.

Also why do they feel the need to have so many useless interactables. The typewriter accomplish nothing

The only emotional beat from og Kratos that hits is in chains of Olympus. He's reunited with his wife and daughter, but he has to go stop the bad guys. you have to do the same button pushing nonsense but your pushing his daughter away while she begs you to stay.

Vice city was created in something like eight months after GT3 became a smash success.

The stories games originally for PSP are also good side games, vcs especially had a ton of cool features that should've been brought forward, instead they barely got played

Personally I really don't think load times are that big a deal. The longest load time I've seen in a console game is maybe two minutes at the most in God of War, that initial boot-up load that you only have to do once when starting it up. A game making you sit through multiple loading screens at a time to get to the gameplay is an issue with that game or game engine and the way it was programmed, not an issue with load times as a concept. See Ghost of Tsushima for how currently existing tech can be utilized to basically eliminate loading in game genres where it's most prevalent (open world or otherwise free-exploration).

This sudden hard push against load times is imo because this coming console generation doesn't have a leg to stand on from a tech improvement standpoint: 4K60 is not feasible yet, and for some dumb reason 1440p as a milestone was never on the table, so... load times??

You should've seen bloodbornes load times at launch. Full three minutes if you died, they didn't even have tips to read at launch

Splinter cell blacklist. I grabbed the game for a couple of bucks looking for something to fill the action stealth hole in my heart after my third run through MGSV. I have never met a game that seems so competent on the surface and yet is such a chore to play. The reticule sucks absolute rear end, and I can't use iron sights to make good shots. Sometimes trying to take cover makes me jump over cover getting me spotted. The guards have just enough randomness that I can't trust they'll do the same thing they did last time. It's incredibly frustrating after how smooth MGSV is to play.

Oh man have I hit a roadblock in Persona 5 Royal, Okumura and his loving robots, you have to beat each wave of robots in 2 turns or they run away and he resummons them at full health, the trouble is that as you progress through the fight the robots get stronger and have different weakenesses.

You basically need to have every element available to you and have ways to counteract the buffs and debuffs Okumura himself casts, its a horrible nightmare.

Turning the difficulty up to merciless is an easy way to beat them. It'll make hitting weakness do three times damage so they get wiped fast. It's really a test to see if you understand the baton pass system, don't forget to use your attack items
