Remember his rant in Blues Brothers 2000--it's okay if you don't--where he goes off for a few minutes about how kids these days all listen to rap and hip-hop and that's not real music? When I think of how Dan Ackroyd isn't funny anymore I think of his insane alien conspiracy rants and how 9/11 scared away all the extraterrestrials and now they won't talk to us.

I think a lot of the Freep thread is punching down. Freepers are often very old, sickly, dirt poor, and impotent in more ways than one. But that doesn't make making fun of them any less funny or satisfying.

In Amsterdam it was the history of porn, vintage erotica, antique sex toys, and the like. In Berlin--for one thing, there was a bar attached, and buying a museum ticket got you a free Carlsberg, and for another, the museum was a few racks of antique and vintage stuff and then a series of multimedia displays showing, with projected 3d animations, detailed diagrams, and helpful narration, how the deed is done. Were there any laser-light shows set to Led Zepplin music?

SCOTUS isn't going to touch RvW so I'm not terribly concerned. Liberals can be just as hysterical over perceived outcomes as the pearl clutchingest church lady. Relax yall. No, that strategy has actually been wildly effective in states like Texas, Mississippi, the Dakotas, and Arkansas. EDIT: Last I heard Mississippi, North and South Dakota, and Arkansas all had only a single abortion clinic for each state because of multiple restrictions placed on them all culminating in a blanket ban in all but name.

My Imaginary GF posted:tbf to the current SCOTUS, the original Roe v. Wade was a bit of an overreach for its time that has resulted in an end to moderation on the issue. Huh. I'd rather the SCOTUS have handled gay marriage the way they handled abortion. Rights shouldn't get to be put up to votes. Also, I've never understood when people say "Oh, the SCOTUS would never take a case on abortion/gay marriage/[insert hot button issue here]". Their whole drat job is to take cases like those, and it's not like previous rulings have never been overturned either in part or in whole. There's nothing magical about Roe v Wade that protects it from further cases.
