To those of you crazy fuckers taking time off work on a MMO expansion launch day, I wish you a stable login server. Hopefully if there are any issues they will be fixed within 12 hours.

Yeah, if your account has HW linked to it you get a special confirmation prompt in the launcher to download the expansion content, since you can't remove just the expansion later, you would have to do a full uninstall or something.

Basically you will know if you are downloading it and if you are somehow not sure you should probably go check your account page.

While Machinist is really not doing it for me at the start (though I don't really dig bard either), the NPCs are hilarious. DRK has potential and AST is just screaming "This is probably your new main" though.

Really impressed with the "Hey, here is a duty that is a crash course of 30 levels of a thing you have never played before" training duties they give you right after you unlock the new jobs. Good design.

Also, if you are still doing a 2.0 relic for glamour, drat did they ramp it up. I am on the Alex phase but the maps give you 5 per chest now, and you can buy one for all of 75 poetics.

By virtue of this being a legitimately good MMO and the guilds fostering a generally helpful and positive atmosphere, this game has actually inverted the standard goon MMO population decline.

I hope there is a PSN flash sale or some sort of discount on additional platform keys in the near future. I can't even get xp towards 60 on the base ARR classes in the standard ARR zones when I load up PS4 now.

I should be glad it doesn't level sync you back down to 50, but I don't think I had quite realized just how much I would be feeling held back by not being able to level on my additional jobs; I also am super wary of doing anything that counts in the challenge log so I don't inadvertently waste an xp bonus.

Yeah, triple spark is the worst attack in that encounter but there is plenty of warning for tank cooldowns, sacred soil, Adlo, Virus, etc to mitigate things. Something else weird is going on in those groups.

I main a healer, and it has taught me enough that when I do runs on my Paladin I go full STR accessories unless the healer is obviously having problems.

This is something I can observe and decide for myself based on watching my HP and their cast bar. It isn't hard to do so and I don't have people on runs bitching at me about my HP.

My personal feeling is I would rather my tank focus on STR gearing if they are capable of cooldown management and Not Standing In poo poo, which is more important than what -ing suffix is on their right side gear. On a similar note I like to see my healers doing DPS as well when I tank for them and if they aren't doing so then I can adjust accordingly. If I am taking too much damage for them to DPS then I may need to adjust what I am doing. If it is one of those "Do DPS? Nah, I queued as healer" types then I am going to do bigger pulls.

As long as both tank and healer are paying attention to what the other is doing then the stat spread doesn't matter to much.

Work on unlocking HLDR as you work on the story for Heavensward. It breaks up the flow of poopsocking quests and there is really only one outright bad l50 dungeon (Copperbell HM). You can probably get at least one goon to escort you through and explain fights if you ask in FC chat.

They already do if you get them in LDR (got Brilliant light from a Copperbell the other day), so I would assume they just remove the no-light flag from undersized and call it a day.

They already give credit for some things while in undersized groups (my wife got about 30 DRK tank completions towards the panther mount during a multi-hour Cragdad pony farm yesterday) so I would assume it is just flipping the switch so to speak.

Yeah, I was in the farming group yesterday with Scrublord and we had six people; two tanks, two dedicated DPS and I was Scholar DPSing too. Agreed that it went smoothly and since only four of us needed horses made the 2/15 drop rate less sad since half the pony rollers got one.

The main issue I have with the 40-50 stretch is that SV and DD are boring as hell, and I have had way too many hour long AV runs to willingly go in there.

For what it is worth, AV these days is fantastic experience if the fruits hatch; with 100% armory bonus and rested bonus you are looking at around 400-425K exp for a clear. Even if the group is a bit dysfunctional you can get through the 47-50 stretch quickly. SV and DD are going to similarly get you levelled quickly.

This is a great patch. New and good content everywhere, and the light farming speed is ludicrous now; took my novus from about 800 light to max in about 75 minutes of Sastasha NM speed runs in a bonus window.

Hysterics aside, I think they did do a bit of a dumb with this. In keeping with their totally incoherent gearing strategy, having an essentially on demand hose of the best gear in the game is going to have a detrimental effect on all their other content. As long as you have friends they've pretty much done away with the need to do almost anything else at all except Diadem. Throw in the upcoming relic and congrats you've essentially obsoleted 80% of what's supposed to be your current content.

While I am sure there are a number of people who will do nothing but Diadem to the point of exhaustion, there are probably also a lot of people like myself who will be happy to do the odd run and then go back to running other content for variety and fun. Diadem is the megagrindy option for players who dig that but it doesn't represent a total shift into gear obsolescence for the rest of the game.

Plus it is something they can design around moving forward. Sure, right now you can poopsock your way to optimally statted 210 gear, but they don't have to turn around and have it drop 230 pinks in 3.2 when the next set of tomestones are released.

Lastly, as long as they keep coming up with multiple new sets of gear for glamour there will be people running content to give themselves options.

Void Ark is a blast to heal if nothing else. Cucu also has been easier for my groups to figure out than, say, Angra Mainyu was since the big pain points have a more district visual effect than the Doom debuff icon.

Controller rules once you set it up and it isn't a hindrance to running content. Give it a shot.

Once you are comfortable with things and starting to get enough abilities that your base 16 slots are crowded or the layout is getting unwieldy, dig into the menus and enable the RT+LT and LT+RT hotbars to get you to 32 abilities without manually switching hotbars. That should get you into the 50s no problem.
