does this also change your volume level or is it made by someone sensible

it depends

if its a normal person they turn the volume all the way down and nothing happens

if its someone who has a vague idea what theyre doing youll get a screenshot with the volume slider obscuring the screen

if its a nerd youll get a screenshot

btw if you have google on tap enabled you can also longpress the home button and theres an option for a screenshot right there but literally no one knows this

it's 2017 and android still doesn't have a way to backup and restore a phone.

only if you view androids across vendors as the same phone as nearly every oem supports moving from one of their older phones to one of their newer ones (except motorola which that person has)

i think the only one that even attempts to make it work from any phone (ios included) is the pixel. i wouldnt be surprised if the motorola that user has actaully does bring almost everything over as moto uses the stock google tools mostly but i didnt want to tell them it would and then it not work

really in short it all just works unless the oem went out of their way to break it like samsung and lg do

I don't want to delete my browser hx because I like to have my history backed up (so I can find a porn I liked without it getting mixed up in my bookmarks).

Any idea how to make it so when I remove xhamster, it'll also remove xhamster/grandmas_first_anal_pov and whatnot.

lol go read ron amadeos write up of samsungs voice assistant bixby

its loving hilarious

heres a taste

quote:

Like most voice systems, Bixby requires a bit of training when it starts up. First comes the hotword training, which works a lot like Google's. You say "Hi Bixby" a few times, and the app records your voice. So far, so good.

Next is something a little different. You're asked to train Bixby by reading a few canned sentences, which is more like an old-school voice-dictation program than these cloud-based assistants. When I did it, the page instructed me to read the first sentence, which is "Health is always important." Once I was done reading it to Bixby, the logo animated into a spinner animation while Bixby processed my speech. This thinking went on for about 20 seconds before the app told me "Bixby couldn't understand you. Tap the Bixby logo to try again."

I tried about 40 more times—"Health is always important"—each with an agonizing 15 to 20 second wait while Bixby processed my speech input and told me it couldn't understand me. I tried speaking in a casual tone, then in a robotic, heavily enunciated speaking manner. I tried with the phone "6-12 inches away from my face" as the previous screen instructed, and I tried holding the phone to my face. I rebooted the phone a few times and started setup again. I tried speaking at quiet, medium, and loud volumes. I tried in the quietest room in the house. I blasted the microphones with canned air to make sure they weren't clogged. Bixby never accepted my input. To make sure the phone wasn't broken, I fired up Google and told it: "Health is always important." Sure enough, it worked fine.

with samsung you just never know if the feature was badly implemented or the hardware is broken i guess

yo lastinline what is with dyp constantly trying to find the next big thing that's not a nexus/pixel? they keep talking about the essential phone which costs just as much and has a stupid modular gimmick

im not sure i have an accurate read but my quick and dirty assessment is there are three camps

technofetishists who only care about anything thats new and shiny (bull, hotsauce, etc). this is a core android constituancy b/c their primary reason for not getting an iphone is that its boring and not cutting edge. they will never not be looking for something else regardless of the quality of the thing they have

people in weird places that cant get the pixel which apparently is everywhere or where the price is so crazy that its just not practical. i mean i like the pixel but if it cost what a used car does but has to be imported so no warranty lol i guess the moto g is what im getting

poors make up the other big android constituency and can neither afford an $800 phone nor can get financing for $800. they hope against hope there will be some magical way that someone will make something as good as the pixel but at a quarter of the cost because then they could afford it and will have shown us the idiots who spent $800 on a phone how stupid we were :smug:

obv. groups 1 and 3 dont care about how good the pixel (or the iphone) is as it has no bearing on their purchasing decision and group 2 has no choice in the matter

im not sure but im almost certain the lockscreen clock has changed with every android release some years its bold some years its thin some years its an all caps date some years its not and this year its a little smaller than it was before and the date is back to not being all caps but its fixed width because i guess they wanted some AESTHETIC up in this bitch
