One could argue that the current president of the United States is not a rational actor.

Canada and the US have a reciprocal agreement where they don't let each other's felons in. People with DUIs get that kind of letters. So not only did we not let her in, but we're treating her like a common criminal. It's not, by any stretch, political. Also she was trying to drive into Canada.

Your mom doesn't have to worry about causality because social services just wipe her rear end on a schedule.

Trump is the inevitable end game of a process that started well over a decade ago. If you think of America as a five gallon of hooch in a shed, the Trump presidency is the burp of gas released by the class and race tension fermentation process. If it hadn't been him now it would have been someone else down the road. Now whether America spills over or matures into decent hooch, that's going to depend on what happens after 2020 and that's going to be the really interesting part. This is just the "what the gently caress" prelude to actual History. I'm scared. Maybe I should convert all my assets to gold, guns and a big sailboat.

Last time Quebec had a referendum the government let it happen, but sent a whole lot of people to tell us that they loved us, please stay. Independence defeated by less than a percentage point, people moved on and now 20 years later the movement is pretty much dead except as a bogeyman in English language media. Violence isn't known to calm down people.
