I don’t think this week was as good as last week, but it was much weirder, and that counts for a lot with me

https://twitter.com/reasonjp/status/1418028109790531584

Also for those who didn’t see it in the game day thread and didn’t like AEW working with the Salvation Army as a charity in Texas, they’ve created a whole outreach department to make sure they work with good charities and also gave Thunder Rosa a backstage job as part of it

https://twitter.com/thunderrosa22/status/1418022097347956739?s=21

They are not gonna let her slip through their fingers, that’s for drat sure

Danielson v. Omega
Danielson v. Fenix
Danielson v. Evil Uno
Danielson v. Andrade el Idolo
Danielson v. John Silver for the AEW world title.

Omega, Fenix, PAC, Angelico…I can’t name a fifth because there’s too many others. Penta, Silver, Hangman, Cage, Sammy, there’s so many goddamn great matches he could have. I really hope the rumor is true.

One other thing worth mentioning is that if Chavo sticks around, he's got a lot of upside aside from just being Andrade's mouthpiece. In Lucha Underground, he was a wrestler at first but primarily moved into a backstage coach/agent position in the later seasons and was reportedly pretty good at that. And has experience working with a good chunk of AEW's roster in that role.

It was less intense than that, he said he was fine with anything as long as it wasn't on his face (Because he's an actor)

Then Nick Gage pulled out a pizza cutter and starting slicing his forehead and mouth

The "Jugular stabbing" was a total accident, Arquette winced at a light tube spot and it sliced up his neck and he started to panic, dropping kayfabe for a minute in shock. He went back to finish the match and then went straight to the hospital. Nick Gage, being Nick Gage thought he was being a coward

Fun fact, Arquette rolled out of the ring and asked his good friend Luke Perry to check his neck to be sure he wasn't spurting out blood and it didn't look like he hit the jugular before he got back in. Luke was there, of course, because Jungle Boy was also on the card.

I just got back from the show here in Dallas/Garland. I have attended many live wrestling events in the past 20+ years, but that topped them all. I can hardly talk from cheering so much. An amazing show top to bottom. Then my group had to leave after Dynamite due to young kids, so I was solo and got moved to the third row. Half way through Dark Elevation, Tony Kahn came out to announce a surprise Although Pac was announced for the main event as the big surprise, they would be doing a Lucha Bros tag match as well for Rey Fenix to return for . So I got to see some of my favorites from the third row and completely annihilated what was left of my voice.

That’s awesome and good to hear that Fenix is back in action for real

In the first season (I think it was), Chavo was Penta's friend at first and then Chavo turned on Penta and hit him with a chair because he's Chavo. And then at some point I think Penta got back at him and beat the poo poo out of him? It wasn't a major feud that I'd expect them to build off of now or anything, though.

esp right now when wrestling is resurgent and attractive to a lot of big money people that need to fill content. Its why AEW is hitting their metrics and WWE has to keep penciling over.

It doesn't take 4 months of negotiations with NJPW to come to a deal with WWE loaning out Daniel Bryan. Its literally a phonecall to Rocky Romero going "hey Daniel Bryan's bored and wants to work some NJPW dates, no bullshit and we'll throw $20k as assurance" Instead WWE tacks on a bunch of nonsense stuff like DB has to win every every match or every match placard with DB has to have a WWE logo bigger than NJPW logo.

I remember when Moxley first appeared on New Japan Strong, back in January I think, and there was this big "how did the Forbidden Door get opened??" question. And Mox went on one of Meltzer's podcasts and was like "I don't know about any door, I called Tony and said 'hey there's this New Japan Strong thing taping like a five hour drive from me and I want to go fight Kenta on it' and Tony said 'ok, cool'"

Having that kind of agility and not having to route things through a shitload of red tape is a huge plus

But it adds to my thinking for years that your ratings typically reflect the quality of last week's show. If last week kicked rear end, your audience is going to assume the next will too. Number go up after big shows.

I wonder if the Bryan Danielson/CM Punk rumors spiked it any. And then people tuned in and got surprise NICK GAGE

Fuego is probably one of the best examples of someone getting over just because other people like him. Like, I'm sure not everyone in the crowd watches Sammy's vlog but enough do, and the ones who don't are instantly intrigued as to why he's so over.

The cool thing about Fuego is he's over somewhat as a meme or whatever based on Sammy's vlog but the dude also has some cool moves, he sells great, he had the dedication and drive to fly himself in hoping he could get a Dark booking for weeks on end. There's no real downside to the guy that I've seen, maybe he's never going to be your main event title holder but he's got a ton of heart and works his rear end off in there and he's just instantly likable.
