I will be at work tomorrow during the really fun stuff. If I don't catch it live can I get a replay somewhere? I want to see the even more insane poo poo hit the even faster moving fan when Jones gets cross examined. Live tweeting and highlights afterwards just aren't enough for me any more I want the real stuff, uncut and pure.

Has anybody asked or answered why those records were collected in the first place? I don't see why Jones' lawyers had them at all and given past performance I'm inclined to believe the worst possible interpretation by default.

BigHead posted:When a plaintiff alleges injuries of a medical or emotional nature, then their medical and emotional states become relevant. The plaintiff himself or herself is putting their own medical records into play, so a judge is almost always going to order the plaintiff to turn over those historical medical records. The defendant usually does not want to even be there, so it's not their fault that the plaintiff puts that kind of thing into play. That's significantly less evil than I expected. Makes sense though and yeah I get it. Now I guess we wait for someone to get nailed to the wall for not keeping that locked down like they should have which, given the last few posts above this, sounds like a fleet of busses are backing up to see who gets thrown under what and when.

Not to sound all negative Nancy on this but exactly what enforcement mechanisms are there to ensure they actually get all that financial information? What actually *makes* that happen? Like, forcefully, to guarantee it? We've seen over and over that these poo poo heads are constantly rewarded for just saying no to any enforcement they don't like, so what's the mechanism here and how will that mechanism react when it gets told to gently caress off?

I do think it's important to keep in mind that whatever level of restriction in loving around would apply to a normal person, Alex Jones is not normal and will do whatever he can get away with. Unless something is forcibly prevented from happening don't expect it to be stopped.

A billion in potential fines is nice and all, but it means nothing until it actually impacts Jones in some way and actually changes something in his life. Until something actually changes it's all bluster and bullshit, another talking point to yell and scream about. What happens if one of the immorally wealthy assholes on the planet just hands him a pile of money and basically pays his fine for him? Once you're at that level fines aren't a punishment they're a line-item. There's people out there that wouldn't even notice paying a mere $965 million. Get the right brain worms in some of them and the desire to stick it to Jones' enemies and the money can be found easily. Peter Thiel did exactly this because he had an axe to grind, it's not some completely left field fever dream from the ether so don't immediately dismiss it.

If we assume good faith with his statement above (which I do not) then this one is different because it's something that he, personally, has an emotional reaction to. An arsonist isn't a good person if they're one of the firefighters battling the blaze. Alex Jones isn't a reasonable person in these clips, he's been tossing these matches for decades and in tomorrow's episode he'll bring the lighter fluid out again. He'll absolutely still get credit for being the voice of reason because that's how he set things up to be portrayed but it's another one of his self serving media manipulation lies designed and produced for that purpose.

There's a level of professional courtesy and respect given in situations like that where they knew exactly what was meant by 'please ignore' and would have for almost everybody else. Jones' lawyers were constant dickheads every step of the way and did not get that respect, they got the exact letter of the law and told to go gently caress themselves.
