I started a new game of BotW last week because I never saw the fifth-guardian DLC and thought hey, maybe I could get to & finish that before TotK arrives (and also because I hadn't touched it since 2017)

o what a fool i was to think i could do that in time in "Ooh, Shiny Distraction" The Video Game :negative: I usually hate just bumblefucking around in open world games, so it's almost scary how much BotW manages to get me out of the proverbial box

I try not to watch trailers for games like TotK that I know I'm gonna get (more fun to be surprised, IMO) so maybe this's already known but I want more shield surfing, and also buildable ramps & boosters a la Death Stranding, and I'ma riot if I don't get it

horses're for losers

rolled credits today. that entire endgame was miles better than in botw and ermagerd the music. the quiet mood-setting background music of the overworld is fine & good but hot drat the wind temple + boss and final boss themes are gonna live rent-free in my brain for a long time

there's one thing that's bugging me though. I don't think I ever actually heard that dramatic music sting from e.g. the beginning of the Carbot episode. is that actually used ingame or what? maybe just from trailers (which I avoided)?

It's the same mechanics as a 6 year old game so theoretically it should be well understood by now, but when I tried googling around I only found a bunch of godawful SEO'd clickfarming websites on "how to make elixir in botw". (I hate the modern internet.)

if i throw a weapon that's about to break is the final hit still 2x or does it go to 4x?

also unrelatedly, does the main theme actually play in game anywhere?

Final Boss - I loved how the UI was used to express the stakes of the Demon King fight. The little UI "pranks" like the super long health bar and shattered hearts felt like something Toby Fox would do.
I wish the fight was actually harder because yeah, the boss destroying my max health was a real OH poo poo moment - doubly so because I always go for 3 bars of stamina so I wasn't even rocking a full first-line of hearts when I first fought him

Like when you activated a tower without the glider did you just faceplant and die? How did you get 2 full stamina wheels without the glider? I feel like I must be misunderstanding you.
can you do towers without the glider? i thought turning the towers on so you can use them, and getting the glider, happened in the same cutscene

I'm planning on starting a new go-round of the game - emulated this time for that sweet 60fps :pcgaming: - and had a sequence-breaky question: is there anything stopping me from getting the Master Sword rechargeable rock-breaker the moment I get the paraglider, a second stamina wheel, and enough skill bomb arrows to beat up ol' handsy under the Deku Tree? Doesn't seem like there is, but my memory is like a, whaddayacallem, a bowl with holes in

With a little more distance from having beaten it, I think I liked BOTW better as an experience and definitely liked it better as a pick up and play thing. TOTK was excellent at what it set out to do but it also felt more videogamey in a way that I’m struggling to put my finger on. I have no desire to revisit it, I feel like I wrung out every drop of content that felt unique or interesting. Too much of the activision busywork feeling I guess
i've seen this sentiment before, and i wonder how much of it might be down to the two games having very similar (main) world maps. i know i spent a lot more time in BotW just seeing the sights for the sake of itself than I did in TotK. maybe being able to fly over everything instead of finding land routes contributed too, idk
