I kind of feel the second and third are too similar. e: to expand on this, you have a nice progression from the first photo to the second, from outside looking into the tunnel to inside the tunnel looking down it and out the other end. Going from the second to the third you've moved further along the tunnel but the difference is much less immediately apparent, you're still inside the tunnel looking down it and out the other end - the scene is extremely similar to the first photo. The sense of progression is somewhat lost. I think if you'd moved closer to the end of the tunnel and got more of what's outside in the frame it would have worked better. Getting in on the night time building photo buzz. Love this. How did you get the angle? Are you on a really steep hill or did you climb a tree or something? e: Wait there's a power line going over your head so I'm guessing the former.

I don't know what hostility you're even talking about. I started posting here when I was new and I posted some pretty terrible photos. One dude in one post made some pretty harsh but valid critique and everyone else was totally reasonable but honest in their critiques and it helped me get a lot better.

RangerScum posted:Whoah, portraits in abandoned buildings? That is a fresh and exciting concept. Pretty much all photography has been done before, who cares. He was giving a new guy some ideas to help him learn, you think he should be out doing some kind of avant-garde surrealist photography or something? Personally I mostly shoot pretty generic landscapes but I don't care, it's a hobby and I like taking pretty pictures of cool places when I'm on holiday/wandering around town. It doesn't have to be high art.

Alehkhs posted:I assume you mean getting everything level? Both of those pictures were actually taken level, it's the clouds and mountains that are screwy as far as I can tell. What do you do in that situation, just fudge it? Yeah the original had the mountains and clouds tilted to one side. Maybe the original was taken level I dunno but clouds shouldn't be on a slant like that, that's just not how clouds roll. Also mountains and clouds are like 80% of that shot so if anything's level it should be them. The repost is much better and doesn't seem to have thrown the valley floor off at all. Everything looks "right" to me.

I like those. It's not easy to make really green shots of forest etc like those look good - you have a good eye for composition. Keep at it! But you should put a line break between each photo when you post them, it makes them easier to look at and distinguish.

If you think Australian landscape isn't varied enough you need to get your rear end down to Tasmania. I'd post examples but I was in a bit of a rut and pretty much every photo I took in Tassie was poo poo :/ But that was me not the locale!
