Genpei Turtle posted:Yeah, they are kind of dumb. "Realms of Revelation" in particular sounds kind of cheesy, and isn't not a really good translation either, ...And it was originally going to be "Realms of Reverie", which is a drat good sub-title. However, Revelation actually fits plot-wise. Explanation: The characters have a revelation about the realm that's referred to as "Realms of Revelation". However, the term is used by residents of the world above to describe the world below, in which case makes "Revelation" not make any sense whatsoever as those residents have no idea as to the truth. Realms of Reverie, or in the case of the DS fan translation, The Trancing Tracts, explains this better since nobody can see residents of the world above they think the world below is entrancing, dream-like, or a holodeck. Genpei Turtle posted:In the original Japanese version, that place (and the subtitle) was "Maboroshi no Daichi" which roughly translates as "the land of illusion." I finally got to actually sit down and play. Interesting. They chose to translate the subtitle and the term differently, the phantom realm, instead of re-using the subtitle. Now I can't wait to see if Realms of Revelation actually appears anywhere in the official English script.

Yeah, I actually got killed by some garrrgoyles, and then learned better the next time and evac'd a couple more times. I didn't have much money to spend on some equipment. It was a good test of the tactics system though (pushing buttons ). Now that I have some more cash I can get some better weapons and armor (not on everyone though). edit: I feel like I'm gaining levels too much, and I'm still getting my rear end kicked.

Senor P. posted:I've been wondering about this a while but did anyone try the re-release of DQV on the PS2(non-localized, but last I heard some people were making an Enligsh patch.) There isn't any WIFI capability or Deborah. The music is, however, orchestrated and fantastic. Translation-wise it has been localized, but in a different manner than how DQ5 DS was localized. On a different note, does anyone know if Nintendo, GameStop, or Best Buy will be having DQ6 events like they did for DQ9? I know that Suite Dreams has a couple of secrets in it that require you to share dreamcards, and I don't have a subway ride to do that with or anything.

It looks like Best Buy will be doing DQ6 at their DQ9 Connect & Play demos this Saturday and on the following Saturday, March 5th. I guess that's going to be the best place to collect dreams. Also, I hyped myself up thinking Terry would still act like a punk in English, but he's been pretty dull so far. If he's not going to act up, I'm sending him back to the wagon, dammit!

Having a dancer with Fuddle Dance or casting Fuddle/Fizzle is really nice. I guess the debuffs are all really cool. If you use them, then you won't have a problem against almost anything. After I understood that and using items, my enjoyment of DQ went up immensely. Though that doesn't really matter in DQ6 until after Murdaw. Currently I'm trying to decide what poo poo is worth buying in Despairia and Greedmore since I'm poor as gently caress.

No, it won't break things. Did you explore under the sea after you took care of the mermaid? There is a lot to do underneath (like killing Gracos and getting a bunch of loot), but really, at that point the game is open to completing several quests that relate to each other.

I'm not really a fan of "punishing" games, and I found that the only punishment you get is playing the Casino and defeating metal slimes (my luck sucks except for Poker ). I had only played DQV before that, which probably helped to understand what the gently caress I was dealing with the next DQ I tried. Sure, I died a couple of times, but it wasn't a big deal. In DQV, I used Attack way too much instead of relying on the strengths of skills like Fuddle and Fizzle. I think the DQ remakes spoiled me because I tried to play FF3 and I haven't touched my DS in a month.

Expect My Mom posted:oh hey I found my copy of DQ6 that I bought and then lost right away There's a vague sense of finding yourself similar to 5 that loses players among the vignettes similar to 7 and fetch quests in the mid-game. The party is fairly unchanging throughout, which may get boring compared to 4. The DS version is cute and the class system is fun to play around with. In the game I played, Carver became a goof-off, fashionista and my heal slime a champion Also, if you're not constantly party chatting you might get lost. Not party chatting all the time is like missing out on 2/3 of the content of the remakes.

SeANMcBAY posted:Has anyone played through the fan translation of Rocket Slime 3? How does it compare to 2 on DS? From last page, but the translation is not the 100% pun-filled, silly goodness of 2. It has its cute moments and dad jokes though. Most of the humor is in text that you may not be paying attention to as you play whereas the text that's more prominent is less so (to be vague and non-spoilery). It's still pretty silly even if it's not all puns imo. The game mechanics are good, but there are some hit box quirks to get used to. There are a few different strategies that work for the most part. The post-game is a collectible grind.
