For sure.

at the end of the day it is a stubbornly upbeat and optimistic show, so it makes sense that it has neatly wrapped up happy endings, as simple as those can be.

I really enjoyed the backlog I went through as a teen, when I read transmet, sandman, a poo poo ton of Moore, bone, flex mentallo, some self contained stuff like dark knight returns, etc

And then I never really got a recommendation that I enjoyed again and when I went from stuff like that to dipping into the more serialized stuff I was super disappointed

all star superman is pretty good I guess

ffxi had a cool opening cutscenes and even tho the interface was bad i really liked the aesthetic of play online. it felt so polished and futuristic.

my understanding is the game as a whole is much kinder now in terms of player hating but I'll still probably never give it a shot because of all the armor set macros and host of clunky third party tools that are essentially mandatory

some of my fondest mmo memories are still with Graal Classic or whatever the free server I played on was called, not the f2p thing

that was a lotta fun just going around pking people, getting pk'd by people, exploring, and messing with the game's editor to make new stuff for others to explore and mess around with

graal owned, i really miss it. because the game was so relatively simple and fun and there wasn't any grinding people spoke to each other a lot more and it was easy to make friends, host impromptu pvp tournies, play with GM shenanigans.

I guess minecraft is essentially its spiritual successor in the most ways but it's not the same.

dragon crown was my watershed moment where i fully realized the new wave of progressivism in games journalism was just a bunch of self congratulatory idiocy instead of simply being poo poo writers rallying for a decent cause

some fans released a modest graphics update for hl2 a few month ago that you can pick up right from steam, so I was playing the game again for the first time in years and years.

it's still really good. one of the small things I still really appreciate is the passage of time in the game. From day, to night, to day, to dusk again, and the way it lines up thematically with the levels you're doing...it's really good. Still one of the best directed experiences of the day, and they still barely ever take character control away from you

a link between worlds is really good, I'm glad that they give you pretty much every item in the game up front and gate exploring behind stuff like the gauntlets, flippers, etc.

really helped them get away from the 'use one item you picked up in this dungeon and then never touch it again' school of dungeon design. also the dungeons and music are good af.

hxh 2011 is maybe the best shonen long series I've ever watched. In terms of pacing, animation, and characters across the whole series I can't think of anything I'd put above it.

Aside from all the toonami stuff I watched randomly, the first anime I went out of my way to get was Lain, because they had it at the comic store and it looked cool. And then I got boogiepop, which was also good. And then nieA_7.

I was apparently a slave to anything by or adjacent to ABe.
