I do think its pretty interesting how far this case has already changed. Most people in this thread seemed to believe the initial story from the family and friends that he just was trying to fix a flat tire.I had my doubts this guy wasn't a KKK grand master and wasn't shooting a random native trying to fix a tire. Its obviously a lot more grey of a situation. The landowner seems like a real jackass for bringing his pistol out, but what we will probably never know is if he attacked him while Boushie was fleeing or not. Tragic situation all around, and no matter the result it wont help race relations. Its too bad those kids were drinking and driving and robbing from farm to farm that day. And its 100x times worse that farmer decided to take a gun out when he was being stolen from.

I think that was his point. That it is a thing that does happen, even if its super rare. So the whole "hangfire" isn't a guaranteed lie, its just an incredibly likely lie.

Either way a gun shouldnt have been involved in the whole scenario.

Postess with the Mostest posted:

I get what you're saying, it's kind of interesting gun chat. One of the witnesses was an RCMP guy who examined the gun, he tried to make it hangfire and a few other things and testified that he could only get it to shoot when pressing the trigger.
Same guy testified that hangfires don't actually exist

This is crazy. They 100% exist. What a lovely expert. Did he also testify global warming isn't happening? Most of them are only a half second at most but I'm sure there are variances there.

That being said I dont buy that excuse for a second. Either he shot intentionally or he accidentally pulled the trigger out of fear or whatever. Either way no gun should have been involved.

Many poor people cant rely on public transportation! If you dont live in one of the major 5 cities in this country, your PT is poo poo, and often wont even run in the hours that you have to be at work for your poo poo jobs! So they are stuck with taxis that cost even more than a cheap car!

Really broad question here, but generally speaking how do we decide when something is going to attributed to mental illness? Like, obviously anyone who intentionally and with malice aforethought runs down 25 people with a car is not okay mentally. But far we seem willing to accept that because he appears to have been radicalized on 4chan/Reddit and not an ISIS message board, it's mental illness and social alienation, even though those would almost certainly be factors in either case.

I dunno I see them the same way? The guy who drove at the cop out west with the rental vehicle was also likely suffering from mental illness but we can infer he wanted to terrorize. He just identified more with ISIS than with incel or any other community that has these happen.

Very often these unorganized terror attacks (not receiving orders/planning or supplies from a central organization) are from some of the most desperate , marginalized and often mentally ill people. The stabbing in the Canadian Tire in Toronto was technically terrorism because of the ideology and intent of the female perpetrator, but for pratical purposes it was more of a assault by a mentally ill person than anything else.

I think it makes a strong point about how we report these incidents and how the media is part of the problem. Elliot Rodger shouldn't be a household name and these unstable loners shouldnt be able to invoke his name like he was their prophet
