Either you play a tanky masterforcer/techforcer type with ICTV or you play grinder/dodger build with suit/LBV. All the other armors might as well not exist.

Just use whatever you like. Unless you're doing loud Death Wish (which you shouldn't if you're still learning), all guns are viable. Some guns have shittier ammo pickup, but if you're afraid of that, just bring ammo. Experiment!

On overkill and below you're only dragging the team down with bad skills, not with your loadout.

Here's something for 0 infamy. You can optimize it somewhat with some infamies. Grinder perk deck is ideal, but rogue works too. Haven't played enough with Ex-Presidents to know how that would do, but it could be okay as well.

Main points are Swan Song aced, Gunslinger aced, Inspire Aced and Equilibrium and Leadership basic. Akimbo basic is enough, no need to ace it.

Consider getting Sneaky Bastard basic/aced if you have the points and think you could use some extra dodge. In that case dropping Thick Skin aced might be prudent because you won't need LBV then. You might also want to take Underdog/Die Hard/Stun Resistance from Enforcer and maybe drop Cleaner and Chameleon from ghost if that works better for you. Those are just my pet skills and this build is just to show how to make akimbos work on a basic level.

Speaking of Akimbo builds, here's my current mix at Infamy 2. I'm still trying to decide between Rogue or Grinder though. With Rogue I get amazing Dodge numbers, but Grinder does let me heal up incredibly often. It just feels like with Rogue I'm always half a second from dying, health-wise.

If you mixed up your weapon specs a bit you could lose the aced from sneaky bastard and low blow and use those points for other things. Inspire aced is crazy good and never not take it if you invest that much in mastermind.

I'd say lose the extended mags (you have fast reloads anyway) and change the red dot sight on Crosskill to marksman sight at least. Maybe also change the suppressor on crosskill to something less massive or lose it completely since you have no ghost skills to back it up. If you're sneaking you can just bring some baby weapon with small suppressor since damage don't matter on stealth, and even if things go loud you have your akimbos to carry you.

Edit: the max detection you can have with no loss to sneak crit bonus on basic level is 5. That is perfectly doable with akimbo build with no real loss on performance. The max detection you can have with aced is 25 and you really have to struggle to get your pistols to have even 20 detection rate so that's a bit of an overkill.

Edit 2: Take swan song aced holy poo poo what is wrong with you

I played with Swan Song last go around, and it never felt as incredible as everyone seems to advertise. For the same 12 points I could ace Uppers, have a billion first aid kits, and not have to Swan Song all the time in the first place.

With swan song aced you get 9 seconds of invincibility (barring cloaker kicks) and infinite ammo. If there's a taser around, it can tase you and reset your swan song timer so you can get even more time staggering around murdering everything. It's a fun way to clean up a room fast with the cost of one down.

Also swan song + inspire is a very powerful anti-wipe tool. Say two saigadozers surprise your crew on dw and mow everyone down. You go to swan song, melt the dozers and all the other cops around, shout everyone else up and then they help you up when you go down.

Then, once you get into the vault, you don't even need that so long as you packed an M308/sniper rifle and sufficient ammo. Hardest part from then on is moving 84 bags of loot.

I'd say the hardest part towards the end is getting out of the vault area to the escape sequence through the hellscape that is the front of the bank. Dumping the gold into the vents is easy, if time-consuming.

Also the goats loving hurt like crazy.

I've only briefly tried this new heist out, but could one guy running a heister pickup service with the Highwayman work? Just drive around the streets running over cops and helping the other heisters in need?

Edit: I almost always close the trunk. Overkill, make the car have 30% chance of dropping a loot bag every 100 meters or every time the car collides with something if the trunk is open.

It's a trade-off for being able to one-hit nearly any cop or special.

Cut-down Mosconi with flechettes is the Doom 2 Super Shotgun. Also surprisingly good for countersniping.

When I was banging out the death wishes, I mainly used a fugimind build with basic lowblow/sneaky bastard, HE judge and specifically modded single shot clarion. My detection rate was 6 or 7 so I lost 1% of dodge but it worked fairly well.

This was way before the new balance changes and Grinder. Now it's even easier. Basically your options are to go full pistols in which case you take akimbo basic (no need for aced) and assorted pistol skills from mastermind, along with inspire aced of course. The other option is to go with rifles and you take kilmer basic, maybe smg specialist basic for a good secondary weapon from ghost with the usual sprinter, cat burglar, fast hands and shinobi.

With the rifle option you need to mod the weapons for increased concealment which can be tricky and it seriously limits your available weaponry, but it's very doable. 10 detection still gives you a fair bit of dodge and the grinder regen takes care of the rest.

Edit: when investing in fugitive, always always always take swan song aced. It's like inspire aced for mastermind and incidentally those two skills have great synergy.

Now that the Dockyard lab spawns every time, Guessing Game remains as the one most bullshit luck based cheevo in the game.

I guess They See Me Bagging is another pretty bad one, but that one can be done by grinding Transport: Harbor a bunch on normal with saw + c4 build. It's not as bad as doing a bullshit stealth job the most retarded way possible and you can bring friends to dick around with completely outlandish builds and loadouts so it could even be entertaining for a while.

I don't mind ecms as "ohshit" panic button that gives a small time window to fix poo poo and then continue stealthing. I do mind them used in a chain to just trivialize a job entirely.

Shadow Raid and Election Day 2A are great stealth heists. I want more of that poo poo, just hold the ecm chains.

Fake edit: to balance out the ecm chain nerf, maybe make so that to prevent cascades, all pagers answered within a certain small time window only burn one pager answer. Sure, you could then clean out a bunch of guards, maybe 16 guards off the map at maximum, but that would require coordination and would then yield a nice bonus. Then again, if you really got more than 10 guards off the map, you could get some rear end in a top hat special guards to check things out, kind of like in Framing Frame 3 and Election Day 2A. All that could keep things much more lively and interesting.

Oh poo poo I'm turning into a stealth version of vox

Laputanmachine

Hot take: ecms block pagers by default; the old "block pagers" skill now lets pager calls come through, speeds up the pager answer by some amount for the ecm duration and also makes ecm deployment quicker, maybe take 0,5 second with the skill.

Bam, now you have a panic button ecm.

I get some perverse joy when I stealth something by accident. Loud kit, I go in and melee a guard, no one notices and I just run with it.

Of course it doesn't happen on maps like Big Bank or Golden Grin, but stuff like Night Club or Election Day or Jewelry/Diamond Store are fun to run like that.

Otherwise I usually stealth solo, since stealthing with pubs is a nightmare unless it's H&T, my friends don't play this anymore and goons only click cops.

So, No Witnesses.
1. Stealth the heist as normal, preferably without using any pagers.
2. There are 3 guards in the basement; take them out quietly.
3. This leaves, on Overkill, 8 guards up top. Use your remaining pager on one of these guards. Take out and bag the construction workers if you can.
4. The final rush varies depending on where the escape is. In either case, consider starting things off with a grenade to identify all guard locations.
a. Boat escape is a bit of a crapshoot. One player should run each "aisle" between trains, taking down enemies. Each kill should be counted up so you know when you hit the goal.
b. Van escape is easier. 3 players on the overpass, 1 on the middle level underneath, covering the area under the overpass. Count up kills to 7 as before, then run to the van. Watch out that the lower player covering the blind spot can have a blind spot immediately in front of them.

Interesting. I did this solo, burned 3 pagers to the guards in basement, one to one guard in the middle aisles and when it was time, I ran a lap around the yard killing everyone and then ran to boat escape. Had around 4 seconds left when I got there. I was pretty sure getting the van would make the cheevo impossible, but of course you can have people sniping on the overpass.

You don't need to kill the civs by the way.

As for my friend, as weird as that build is or isn't, the only person last night to come even close to his kill count was some infamy 14 dodge guy with pistols. Again though, maybe it falls apart on DW (we did just some late night OK).

There are a bunch of achievements that are "take no skills whatsoever and the shittiest poo poo guns you can find and blast your way through some heist on overkill" so yeah, you can pretty much take whatever on overkill and succeed. Death Wish is a bit of a different story. That build of your friend's has a lot of redundancies and some pretty much unnecessary skills that could be dropped. For example, you could drop all of those tech skills and just mod your weapons for similar bonuses. Kilmer aced is fun but unnecesary, pistol messiah sounds fun but is completely unnecessary if your team sticks together even a little and so on and so on. It would be wiser to drop the mastermind pistol skills completely, take a loco or judge as your secondary and start climbing that enforcer tree for shotgun skills and ultimately ICTV.

Of course these all will soon be outdated when the skill overhaul hits.

Maybe temporarily, but maniac is pretty good if you are able to click cops and keep clicking cops. Finish the maniac perk deck first and keep using it until you get some other perks finished. Perk decks persist even through infamies, so you can never lose them, just keep playing and keep building the decks until you have them all.

For the next perk deck after maniac I suggest Muscle. It gives you a shitload of HP and a passive regen effect to boot so it should keep you alive trhough some bad decisions. It also makes cops panic if you fire at them which is also cool.

The perk decks have been in the game for way more than a year (two years?) and the game has changed a hell of a lot in that time. Jump on in the steam channel and mumble and we'll walk you through some heists.
