The saddest thing? I really thought that was the kickstarter title, because Iīd have backed something with that premise immediately, regardless of price, but for that project...well, it looks mediocre, even for UE4. And frankly, they say so little about the project itself. And Iīd trust Stewart Wieck about as far, as I can throw him. You can guess how far that is. Meh.

Got my german KS version of Fragged Empire CRB today. Nice book, shiny pages, hardcover. Only about 6 weeks late, so its "kinda" ok. Not really, but on Kickstarter these days it is, I suppose. Got among others "an audio cd with music" that contains the Tabletop Audio Ambient Tracks..which I find kinda cheap, as well as some rather ugly and 4-pages strong character sheets in high glossy paper (Which you canīt write with pencil on, and really guys, 4 pages?) Finally it seems that KS is going to delay even longer for some of the other products as theyīve lost a translator that "dropped of the face of the earth" as a company said in their weekly video update. Bah what am I complaining, I got what I wanted out of it. Yay =)

In theory, at least according to its writer, its constantly at "almost done, only THIS little tidbit is missing!" wich we can translate to 0.99. Therefore the timespan since the end of the Kickstarter campaign amounts to 0.99 FAR WESTs. This means that we have a recognizable, if somewhat unstable length of time with which we can measure other Kickstarters. Of course, anything that goes beyond 0.1 is bad, anything that actually released is unusable since it exceeds the scale due to being never =1 (Since the max amount of FAR WEST that can exist is 0.99) etc.... But its not useless  Silly perhaps.

Sex in itself, even if not set as a theme of taboo, is in effect a plot vehicle. Its the MacGuffin used to create Drama, but its unable to carry itself as part of mechanics if played out because by its very nature, it is the degeneracy of all human rationality and thought. It is the most beast-like act, that sheds the thin veneer of civilization we have built and that veneer is what fails any attempts at simulating it mechanically in a roleplaying game. Its the reason why sexual tension works, but not the resolution of that tension.

Didnīt DDO already try and totally fail at that, because it showed that the rules, as adapted to the computer, were basically 80s version of bad rpgs controls and backgrounds? Hell, Iīm currently playing Baldurs Gate and those ADnD rules are frickin awful in some regards, I remember often going at odds with Neverwinter Nights (where it was less clear, but still happened) and Neverwinter only works because itīs basically an action game built on 4 and doing exactly what that game tried and where it worked. But also...itīs a soulless MMO. So yeah.

Itīs https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/sagatales/sagatales-presents-machina-dark Machina Dark, a "grim and gritty classless Steam-/Dieselpunk post-ww1 alt-history game". Unfortunately it seems to have ended on October 11th already, being canceled by the creator, for reasons unknown (at least I canīt find any on their update page).

Isnīt the idea of the fetishized games also that they provide a safe outlet for those fetishes without being played out in society itself? You know...like roleplaying or videogames for many are a form of outlet for feelings, frustrations etc.? Also, wouldnīt Arivias form of "Activism" result in a harassment law suite? Has the remake or 2nd Edition even hit stores yes? Iīve missed their Kickstarter for it and it looks georgoeous. Other than than, Nemoīs War v1 was a nice little, very self contained game that was very difficult and dependend on being really lucky with dice rolls as there wasnīt really that much in the way of strategy or things to "impact" on the game board. You really only decide where to travel to and if to attack ships, rolling dice to see if you sink them or no. Also itīs incredibly easy to lose.

The following is only indirectly TG-related but well... If youīre somewhere in northern Europe and like good roleplaying music, you might have heard of the german group ERDENSTERN. Theyīve done a number of soundtrack and ambient track cds for different games and genres, from generic explorative wilderness adventures, to cthuhu-esque horror, and made a number of concept cds, like the one for Mountains of Madness et al. Theyīve started a Kickstarter for a live concert in October 2019, and there are still cards to be gotten. So far theyīve gotten about 8k from their needed 34k needed and have gone for four days. Kicktraq predicts a stable growth towards stretchgoals (up to 224% at first, which was kinda weird). If you like good roleplaying music, and want to support a good thing, help them out. I know I did =)
