I really want to be excited for this but there's this nagging voice in the back of my head that keeps saying "feature creep ruins everything". Based on a few of the things I've read and after what they did in DA:I I'm worried they're going to add a ton of annoying resource gathering/management and superficial base building crap.

The Reapers have supposedly been around for about a billion years. That's more than enough time for them to have a presence in a lot of nearby galaxies. It would be weird if their primary directive was "preserve all intelligent life...only in this galaxy though."

It's not inconceivable that there's a directive like "safeguard against organics-AI wars in this galaxy",or "in our (Leviathan's) sphere of influence" (which means the Milky Way again). Never underestimate the ability of a game developer to make inexplicably terrible decisions. Like, I don't think they will put Reapers in as a major plot point but I won't be surprised if they do.

Skippy McPants posted:Or any Ubisoft game made in the last seven years or so. I don't get why game devs keep packing more and more collectible bullshit into their games. I'm not sure I've ever spoken to someone who actually enjoys collections. It's always a refrain of "I don't enjoy it, but my completionist ODC won't let me ignore all that poo poo on my mini-map!" It's the worst thing in RPGs. It started out where if you'd collect all these things you'd get some kind of upgrade or a new item or it would unlock a quest. Now it's just collect them so it says 10/10 instead of 3/10.

I'm a little concerned it'll be really glitchy. I noticed a few in the recent videos and if they're sneaking into promotional stuff it's makes me wonder what it's like when they're not putting their best foot forward.

Collecting materials just makes games feel like work.

Then when you do just filter through all your inventory crap for the minor +1 helmet. Oh I'll cheat engine it all away in like 10 minutes. It's just inexplicable to me that they put these crafting systems in games that have no business having one. Especially in Bioware games. It makes zero sense that the ace specialist combat commando squad is spending any time at all running around mining and picking flowers.

Nerds really have no impulse control at all do they? Just wait a week after it's been out, read what people say about it and if they don't say it's a buggy mess then buy it. If not, wait a month for it to be patched and then buy it.

It was just, was he a good dad to ciri or not. It's weird playing someone less relevant to the plot like that. I don't know if it's a good kind of weird. But overall I got really tired of the combat and finished the game on youtube. The writing is great though and significantly better than the first two, where they really had to hammer in the factions and that the witcher really is just a neutral dude and he's cool and badass for it. Probably more about American sexual mores considering that's the main market. It's not that you can't see a penis it's that you don't see any genitals at all but there's plenty of bare chested men.
