Why is everything so poo poo right now?quote:Former Adelaide archbishop Philip Wilson is set to walk free after his conviction for concealing child sexual abuse was quashed by a judge. This is such bullshit. Claiming the victim isn’t consistent about details of something that happened 40 years ago, and when you’re talking about whether something was 6 or 9 months. This is just more reason why victims don’t speak up, because they are treated like the ones on trial and predators get off free on the flimsiest of technicalities.

This is a really interesting article about how being in such a traumatic situation can affect memory and how when police start from a place of disbelieving the victim it biases and hinders the investigations. snoremac posted:On top of what’s been pointed out, Peterson believes makeup is a sexual provocation and that we need to re-examine whether women should be in the same workplace as men. He’s a hardline reactionary in the trappings of an effete philosopher who’s just asking questions. Thank you. He also tries to normalise sexual harassment of women in the workplace and blame the victims by basically parroting old school “looked at how she dressed/acted. She was asking for it” bullshit. Women wearing makeup are being sexually provocative because the only reason women wear makeup is to be more sexually attractive (ignoring the social history and pressures for women around makeup), men shouldn’t be held responsible for their actions because they’re confused about the “rules” regarding male/female social interaction in a professional setting, etc. He points out facts about men that are true and important (like higher male suicide rates) and that show areas where men are disadvantaged but then extrapolates that into all situations are disadvantageous for men and uses it as an excuse to justify discrimination of others and poor behaviour of men. Dress all that up in a package of a highly educated authority figure, who speaks in a rational and intelligent manner and you have a guy whose views are given a wide platform. That’s the risk JBP.

This is such a bullshit excuse. Being a “hugger” is no excuse for touching women you don’t know and who haven’t asked to be physically touched. So fed up of the “he was just being friendly” excuse for men who think their desire to touch women matters more than what women want. Learn to respect some boundaries idiot.
