Hi, people reading this in 2021! How's future Factorio? I assume even more excellent than present Factorio, which is excellent.

I played both new asscreeds to an embarrassing high level of completion!

Odyssey is a better game: it's much larger and most (not all) systems are improved slightly, notably the mercenaries.

But Origins was a better experience. Egypt is undoubtedly the better map and Bayek has the better story.

Ultimately, they're similar enough that if you like one you'll like both. But I'd say that unless you have a really strong preference for Ancient Greece, get Origins.

The major DLCs for both are generally worth it, Origin's Curse of the Pharoahs is the best of them all. You can completely ignore the little packs, both base games come with plenty of dress-up options and you'll never need more swords.

If we're talking about Far Cry. Ubisoft is having a big sale on Uplay and I'm thinking about getting a new open world game for these stay-at-home times.
BUT! Ubi does a poor job on the store page descriptions and I don't care to seek out youtube reviews, so not sure which one to go for! Is anyone able to give me a quick rundown of what the key differences are between 4, Primal, 5 and New Dawn? Like, obviously Primal doesn't have guns but does that...work? Is it worse than the gun entries? Better? Should I just skip to the newest entry because they're all the same and the newest is most polished? Advice welcome!

For reference the last FC I played was FC3 & FC3: Blood Dragon, but I have played the most recent Asscreeds.

Gracias, all. Sounds like Primal is the way to go, which I'm glad of because riding a sabretooth around certainly sounds more interesting than fighting a cult in Montana! If I still want more after that I'll look at 4, and by the time I'm done with THAT...well, we'll probably have FC6 by then.

Already have :) I found many a blood diamond and know the hidden secret of the checkpoint they're pretty bad at following you offroad.

Now, why later games -including Far Cry 3! - didn't take the FC2 fire mechanics is something I never understood. I had so many gunfights change completely because me or the AI accidently started a huge fire that forced everyone to adapt to the moving safe areas.

A lot of the problems with GTA Online stem from 2 factors:

The first is it's been running since 2013, so yeah for a new player there's an overwhelming amount of vehicles, weapons and businesses and very little in game way to tell what's actually worth your hard-earned GTAbux. The GTA thread here can help with that, fwiw - you don't need nearly as much as you think to be effective.

The second is that back in, oh I dunno, 2010? when they were drawing up the design docs, Rockstar weren't expecting MP to be the main moneymaker. I can't remember if this was ever confirmed, but the expectation was that they'd keep it fresh with big expansion DLCs like they did for GTA 4. Anyway, then they opened Online up and found that the stupidly overpriced GTAbuck bundles were making them a metric fuckton of money. Like, an absurd amount. Still are! So they more or less abandoned single player and shifted their resources to Online. Thing is, the game wasn't designed to be a constantly updated multiplayer world.
It took them, what, 3 years to add the originals heists, which are essentially just big, linked contact missions? 6 years to add a mostly freeroam heist? 4 years to figure out how to do weapon upgrades (and the Mk2s are technically completely separate weapons)? 6 years to figure out how to rearrange the vehicle call-in menu?
The end result is that the player experience for some parts of this game is nothing short of completely awful (good lord, the UI). This is because the decisions they made basically a decade ago with different assumptions can't be meaningfully altered, they're too deeply baked into how the game works. I'm interested to see if they can improve for GTA 6 whenever that shows, although RDR2 doesn't have me too hopeful.

Like any online game, both those problems are lessened if you play with cool people (so, not pubbies). Again, the thread here can help you with that!

Playing with others isn't for everyone though, I get it!
So here's another piece of advice for new GTA-havers who want to check out Online. And if you're not strictly here for the single player story it's probably worth a look, the Online characters feel a lot tougher and you can customize them much more.
If you launch Online via the Escape menu, there's an option to launch an invite only session*. It locks out a few of the grinding activities, but lets you play around in freeroam without anyone else able to join and ruin your fun. There's also a setting in options where you can launch the soloable missions (contact missions, races) under the same rules, so you really don't have to see other players if you don't want. If you do this, then you've effectively got all the customization and Online-only toys plus the PvE/racing game modes in an effectively SP environment. There's some tools/mods that go further, but this is a good place to start.

Hope this helps a few of you get the most out of your new free game!

*You may have to get thru the Online tutorial first, I can't remember. It's a short tutorial for a Rockstar game at least.

No the GOTY is separate from that: if you own HM1 levels, they can already be played in HM2. What the HM1 GOTY upgrade lets you do is play the Patient Zero minicampaign in HM2 + a unlocks a few other little bits and bobs.

Check in with the Hitman thread if you have any questions, the process can sometimes be obtuse due there being 2 different publishers involved.

Yeah, Cloudpunk is a story game first and foremost:
You're a delivery driver trying to get by in a strange futuristic city you've just arrived in. The assignments you're given send you off to meet some odd characters who are thriving or not in the megalopolis. Maybe you'll have to make some decisions about which deliveries it might be best not to do? Your hovercar AI will help you out with his thoughts on events, although his advice is biased as he currently has the personality of your pet dog (who's a good car?). Maybe one day you'll save up enough to get him a dog chassis again. There's a fair amount of meditation on cyberpunk themes in the story, particularly around AI.

It's also one of those 'experience' games you play to soak in the vibes. The low-poly neon, rainswept aesthetic is strong and there's nothing really stopping you from just wandering/driving around, checking out the vistas. Heck, maybe you'll stumble on a interesting character in an alley or a good noodle stand.

Very chill experience.

It sounds like you're after PC versions so if you're not already aware, Ubisoft offers a Netflix style subscription service. It's something like $15 a month and gives you access to pretty much all of Ubisofts games, usually with all the DLC included. I assume this includes every Assassin's Creed title but probably worth double checking that before signing up.

Your computer would have to be good enough for the more demanding newer ones, but if you're primarily interested in AC3 and AC4 that shouldn't be much of a problem.

As for the game itself, AC3 is much bigger that the Ezio games. Unfortunately, a lot of what they added is bloat that doesn't really add much fun. The story and protagonist are also a step down from Ezio. The game world suffers a bit from the setting, revolutionary America being mostly forests and dinky little wooden colonial towns as opposed to the grand cathedrals and castles of Italy.

However, the core gameplay is still there and if you're interested in the period then interacting with Washington and co should be cool.

Apparently the alt history DLC where Washington becomes a tyrant king is much more fun but I haven't played that personally.

If you're consistently beating missions you should be good on the campaign! One thing to keep in mind is that it's always tempting to build the stuff that upgrades your troops, but if you're not aggressively expanding the resistance network you might lose the strategic game anyway.

I played the first two missions of 1, barely touched 2, but would like to give 3 a shot based on the reviews.

I played the poo poo out of the original four hitman games but I... Just get overwhelmed with the number of choices in the new trilogy. I'm hoping the third time will be the charm.

3 is an extremely good game and would be a great place to retry the earlier maps from the Trilogy!

So, assuming you have Hitman 1 & 2 on Steam and are getting 3 there as well, then Hitman 3 Standard Edition will be fine. You can play the levels from 1 & 2 within 3, although note that if you chiefly played Hitman 1 you'll be starting fresh, there's no way to import progress from that.

Most of the extras for 3 are just a way to unlock levels from 1&2 without needing to own those games separately. The exceptions are Hitman 3 Deluxe and the 7 Deadly Sins pack, but those only add escalation missions and are honestly skippable until you're really running out of things to do in the game.

One last thing would be to look at either the Trilogy Premium Addon for Hitman 3 OR the Expansion Pass for Hitman 2. Either of those will add 2 new (very good) extra maps - a NY bank and a Maldives resort - if you don't already have them.
