Which is loving hilarious when you consider most of those people would throw a hissy fit if you suggested removing the 2nd amendment and that a federal mail service is directly mentioned in Article 1 of the actual Constitution.

the corona cases are being massively undercounted because we're only testing the worst cases (and today NYC changed policy to test only hospitalized cases), a huge chunk of people are riding it out at home or are just simply asymptomatic

I wouldn't take that 20% number as applicable to all American cases

The undertesting bullshit really pisses me off. We should have immediately started testing everyone. I'm a big fan of the SK method: test everyone, contact trace and isolate suspected infected.

I just feel like it's incredibly important to know if you have the virus or not, especially since there is a lot of spread from asymptomatic people.

Yeah this is the thing that I'd like to know about personally. I caught something in early/mid February, right around the time the first confirmed case hit the Chicago area. And while I usually catch something around the change of the seasons, I felt like the thing that hit me was a bit early.

I was dry coughing and sneezing and stuffed up pretty bad for about 3 days and then it cleared up fairly quickly. I don't remember ever feeling short of breath during that time though other than just regular issues with congestion and cough. I probably didn't have it, but it sure would have been nice to be able to find out at that time or if I could find out if I had antibodies present in my system now.

Again, that is because people are stupid. Champaign and Springfield are the middle of the state and everything south of them is southern Illinois.

And although I haven't really been there, the area around the southern tip of Illinois is pretty neat. The whole Shawnee National Forest area. The fact that Illinois has the northern most cypress-tupelo swamp in the states.

Yeah, cats are weird. My friends had a cat named Spook because he would almost never come out of hiding even for the 3 people that were living there. But that dumb cat liked me for some reason and when I went over there he would eventually come out and sit next to me to get petted.

To be fair, PFC is a noted rear end in a top hat.

edit - I mean I don't particularly mind him most of the time and my first exposure to him was I think in 2016 at the start of the baseball season when he was all excited about the Pirates and then just went off the deep edge when they collapsed and the Cubs went on to win the World Series. It might have been 2015 though, I don't remember the actual dates, just that PFC (Or Tayne as he was named then) was just absolutely bonkers in SAS over the Pirates and Cubs and it was a hilarious loving trainwreck.
