The next two days are going to be a special hell for me as a social studies teacher. I really am not sure what I should do. Do a normal lesson tomorrow and put on some news or clips the day after? Try to teach a normal lesson both days and just keep an eye on my news feed in case something major happens? Maybe just give the kids an open floor to ask questions and share their opinions? I just feel kind of anxious about how to handle this moment, especially since I'm in Chudland.

I took Thursday off (we're on a 4 day schedule) since I couldn't take the day after, and boy do I think I'm going to need it.

I feel like just talking it through, trying to have a conversation (not a debate!) about processes and the mechanics of the election could be good? I have zero teaching experience and I imagine it greatly depends on the ages and maturity of the kids.

Well, I spent the last two days explaining the Electoral College and the PoliSci factors for choosing which candidate you're going to vote for.

Trying to even IMAGINE the next midterm right now is an incredibly useless exercise. We don't even know what the board is going to look like, so how can we project two years of gameplay forward? Even if you start panickedly presuming that the Pendulum MUST swing back literally at the very next possible opportunity, it could swing back an INCH as easily as a mile. Thats one reason why running up the score in the House is just as important as winning the Senate.

Both Nates DID tell us that the difference between a Biden Landslide and a Biden Squeeker was razor thin. We just never imagined it'd not only be THIS true, but also dragged out THIS bad, even though our brains told us it would.

If Georgia flips after everything else we've been though tonight, I'd still call this huge though. Winning back the blue wall plus AZ AND GA is a pretty clear message. Just not the earth-shattering one we hoped for.

What I'm really worried about now is the Senate, and how the BEST hope seems to be 50/50. That'll make life really hard.

I mean, it basically WAS a lock, its taken a turnabout even more improbable than any of his 2016 rustbelt wins to even make it within the realm of possibility, let alone actually happen. Georgia started the day with a little more than 10,000 votes remaining, they dropped a batch of 7000ish earlier, that batch get Biden his 4k lead. According this tweet about 600 of the outstanding ballots got in over the course of the day. That means if the final value of votes that got in before Close of Business is less than around 400, the margin exceeds the remaining vote and Biden officially wins Georgia, full stop.

Aside from the legally mandated recount of course.
