Dynamite for 8/30 via F4WOnline

quote:

AEW Dynamite comes on the air with a recap video from All In before Excalibur welcomes us alongside Tony Schiavone and Taz.

Jon Moxley defeated Komander (w/Alex Abrahantes)

(An impressive outing for Moxley here, as he’s more than ready to challenge either Orange Cassidy or Penta at All Out. Even in defeat and facing a pretty big size disadvantage, Komander hung in there and kept it competitive. I have a feeling whomever Moxley faces at the PPV, he’s walking away with the International Title.)

Moxley mowed down Komander with a big boot and corner strikes to kick things off, taking a bow to the Chicago crowd. Komander answered by using his speed to send Moxley to the floor and connect with a high cross body. Back inside, Moxley did his big back rake in the corner, but a headbutt knocked Moxley off, allowing Komander to try a Cancun Tornillo, but crash and burn. Komander again tried utilizing his speed during commercial, but Moxley had a cross body scouted and controlled a majority of the break.

Komander countered a powerbomb into a facebuster ala Billy Kidman and tried to follow with lariats, which Moxley absorbed initially until the third one did it. Komander was able to chop Moxley down with kicks and low DDT which led to an impressive lung blower for two. Komander wanted his rope walk 450, but Moxley got the knees up and connect with the piledriver. Anvil elbows led to the rear naked choke, as Komander fought, allowing Moxley to transition into an arm bar for the tap out.

-A video package showcasing Orange Cassidy’s International Title reign is shown. Cassidy said you’d think after All In, he’d take a break, but tonight, he’ll show Jon Moxley why he’s not the same wrestler that he was 4 years ago.

-Post match comments from The Young Bucks at All In are shown, as FTR interrupted and questioned why The Bucks didn’t shake their hands. Matt & Nick said they created All In and they were frustrated they lost. The Bucks were about to shake FTR’s hands, when Bullet Club Gold interrupted and told The Bucks this locker room is for winners. Jay White said there are four of them and four of BC Gold. Wheeler suggested an 8 man tag at All Out and the match has been made.

**********

-Highlights of The Outcasts crumbling at All In is shown and Saraya pinning Toni Storm to win the AEW Women’s Title in front of her hometown and family. Renee Paquette was then backstage with a distraught Toni Storm who said she’s happy for Saraya, but she went off script during her performance and blamed everyone, saying Wembley went tits up and she can’t trust anyone. Storm walked off and chucked her shoe at Paquette.

Chris Jericho & Sammy Guevara Face to Face

Jericho thanked the crowd for the reaction he received and put over one of the greatest weekends in his career not just as an in ring competitor, but for Fozzy as well. Jericho talked about the shoot record breaking number AEW did for the attendance in Wembley and wanted to address his actions post match, calling Sammy Guevara to the ring.

Jericho wasn’t happy with his actions after losing to Will Ospreay by shoving Guevara. A clip of Guevara clocking Ospreay with the bat as he was in the Walls of Jericho was shown and Jericho realized lie, cheat or steal, Guevara did what he could to help Jericho win. Jericho & Guevara shook hands, as Guevara said it would take more than a little shove to break their friendship. Jericho questioned what he could’ve done differently to win the match, mentioning how Guevara could’ve hit Ospreay with the bat harder. Guevara questioned if Jericho hit the Judas Effect harder, he could’ve won. Guevara left his pregnant wife to be there for Jericho and wondered if it wasn’t for having Jericho’s back, Guevara could’ve actually wrestled on the show.

Things started getting more and more chippy, with Guevara bringing up how Jericho won the AEW title in this very arena, only to lose the title outside of a steakhouse. Jericho wants cooler heads to prevail and said Le Sex Gods should start their road to the AEW Tag Titles. Guevara shook his hand, as the wheels haven’t officially fallen off quite yet, but they’re certainly about to. The crowd seemed disappointed nothing else happened in this segment, as they were ready for each guy to start swinging.

-Backstage Jon Moxley is with Claudio Castagnoli & Wheeler Yuta to address the main event tonight. Moxley said everything is seemingly about bark, like who has the most titles, nicknames or hashtags. Come All Out, it’ll be who has the most bite.

Eddie Kingston defeated Wheeler Yuta to retain the NJPW Strong Openweight Title

(A relatively quick match, but it was hard hitting while it lasted with Kingston doing a great job of selling Yuta working over the injured arm. We’re definitely headed to Kingston vs. Castagnoli, which continues to build and build for another round in their rivalry.)

Yuta slapped Kingston and went right after the taped up elbow early, really keeping Kingston grounded as they went to a commercial about a minute into the match. It was all Yuta during break, but right as things returned, Kingston blocked a monkey flip and clobbered Yuta to the floor before connecting with a tope. Back inside, Kobashi machine gun chops led to an Exploder, but Yuta blocked the back fist and skinned in the cat into a bridging German for two. Kingston got his knees up on a dive from Yuta and followed with a Saito Suplex for a near fall of his own.

Yuta countered a half and half into an Angle Slam, as Kingston started hulking up, firing off chops with his bad arm. Yuta responded with anvil elbows, but Kingston got his half and half into multiple back fists that made Yuta collapse like a mannequin to get the pin. Post match, Claudio Castagnoli appeared ringside and never made eye contact with Kingston, as he simply helped Yuta to the back.

-A video package of the All In main event is shown with MJF retaining the AEW World Title against Adam Cole. We got post match comments backstage with MJF upset that Cole made him wrestle more than he’s had to in quite a while. MJF also said Tony Khan informed him of a tag team battle royal happening on Rampage to determine who Cole & MJF defend their ROH Tag Titles against at All Out. Also, there will be a tournament to determine who will face MJF for the World Title at Grand Slam on September 20th. MJF said he needs a week off, so he’s going to Paris, eat a baguette and bang some rats before coming back to hit a Kangaroo Kick and double clothesline with Cole to retain their titles.

**********

-Renee Paquette is backstage with Sammy Guevara, who was almost immediately interrupted by Don Callis who asks if it’s frustrating dealing with a sociopath like Chris Jericho? Callis tried to congratulate Guevara on his wife being pregnant, but Guevara cut him off and told Callis to get lost.

Story Time with Adam Cole

Cole thanks the crowd for the biggest night of his life and the greatest wrestling show of all time. Despite how great that night was, it wasn’t perfect, as he lost the World Title match, but knows he will get another title shot eventually. Despite MJF’s neck being banged up, he promises the crowd he’ll be ready for All Out. Roderick Strong & The Kingdom barge to the ring, with Strong insulted how Cole cared more about MJF’s neck than his. Cole wonders why Strong is acting like this and questions if it’s due to paling around with The Kingdom.

Mike Bennett interrupted and said it’s time for Story Time with Mike Bennett and brings up his debut in ROH, the night both he & Adam Cole got jobs at ROH together. Cole acts like he doesn’t know The Kingdom, but Cole was at Bennett’s wedding and brings up the roads they’ve traveled, running down Chicago in the process. Cole cares too much about what the idiot fans think and forgot what The Kingdom & Strong have done for him.

Taven cuts off Cole and said he needed The Kingdom to take over ROH before jumping to Bullet Club to pad his pocket book with the merch money. Taven said Cole is a liar and is the same leach he’s always been, latching onto that Melvin MJF. Cole has only cared about himself, which Cole said they know isn’t true and apologizes, but they need to realize MJF isn’t just his friend, but his best friend. Roderick Strong said he’s entering the Grand Slam tournament and doing something Cole couldn’t, that’s beating MJF for the World Title.

Cole said that was a terrible idea with his bad neck and Strong was insulted he finally cares. Bad neck or not, Strong is winning the tournament and breaking everyone’s necks because he’s a wrestling legend. The Kingdom & Strong left and Tony Schiavone on commentary said someone should call the whambulance.

TBS Champion Kris Statlander, Dr. Britt Baker & Hikaru Shida defeated Nyla Rose, Marina Shafir & Emi Sakura

(This was your standard party match that mostly took place during commercial. Statlander looked strong, as the seeds continued to be planted for the Shida & Baker falling out.)

Sakura attacked Shida immediately, but Shida quickly turned the tables and tagged in Baker, who hit a quick sling blade. Shafir took the ref to allow Rose to cheap shot Baker and keep her isolated throughout commercial. Baker managed a rolling neckbreaker to lead to the Statlander hot tag, as the TBS Champion ran wild until Rose & Sakura hit a double team slam. Shida tried to jump in, but Rose ducked a Baker superkick and Shida ate the strike. Rose dropped Baker with a choke slam, tried to do the same to Statlander, who fought it off and sent her to the floor along with everyone else. Statlander went up top and hit a huge cross body on everyone before bringing Shafir back in the ring to hit Wednesday Night Fever for the win.

Baker pleaded her case to Shida outside after the match saying she didn’t mean to hit Shida with the superkick, as Ruby Soho appeared behind Statlander and laid the champ out with No Future, as she held the TBS Title in the air and kissed it before Shida & Baker made the save.

-A video package on Shane Taylor is shown and we learn he will be facing Samoa Joe for the ROH TV Title at All Out.

-A strategy session is shown backstage with Don Callis & Konosuke Takeshita, as they go over Kenny Omega’s weaknesses ahead of the match at All Out. Callis is talking about Omega’s bad knees, the hernia surgery and if all else fails; Callis’ backup strategy is using the screwdriver he used on Omega in the cage match earlier this year.

**********

The Acclaimed & Billy Gunn’s Trios Title Celebration

(I need to bring up how the line of the night was made quietly by Excalibur during this segment, as once Bowens welcomed us to The House of rear end; Excalibur said that’s where MJF is currently at in Amsterdam. Taz said he also knew a place named that in Jersey. That was the highlight of this segment and needed to be mentioned.)

Max Caster’s freestyle referenced Mitch McConnell being shaky and also Trump’s mugshot. Gunn said they were low on time, so they have to do this quick and talked briefly about winning the Trios Titles at All In. Caster said it would be fitting to come back to Chicago, where the crowd lifted them up to win the AEW Tag Titles and have a ribbon cutting ceremony. Gunn pulled out a huge pair of scissors and cut the ribbon leading to a new era of the Trios division as Bowens welcomed us to the House of rear end. Caster revealed new Trios Titles that have scissors at the ends of the straps so they can indeed scissor with each other. Bowens said on Collision this week they’ll be defending their Trios titles. The Acclaimed & Gunn all scissored with each other to end the segment.

**********

Orange Cassidy defeated Penta El Zero Miedo (w/Alex Abrahantes) to retain the AEW International Title

(This was an excellent main event that wasn’t hampered by two commercial breaks in the slightest. Cassidy continues to pull out the win, despite his body slowly breaking down more and more after each defense. The rare post match promo from Cassidy was fantastic and showed despite everything he’s been through, he’s ready for Jon Moxley at All Out in what should be a Match of the Night contender.)

A fast opening sequence with roll throughs, arm drags and sweeps that led to an early stalemate. Cassidy got a quick takedown and did his pocket offense to send Penta to the floor. Cassidy wanted a tope, but Penta caught him in a gorilla press in mid air and launched Cassidy into the railing heading to commercial.

We didn’t get picture in picture, as back from break Cassidy hit his tope suicida, but Penta answered with a somersault plancha of his own. Back inside, Penta hit a clever springing leg drop off the bottom rope. Cassidy floated over in the corner and hit a Stundog Millionaire from the apron back into the ring followed by his swinging DDT for two. Penta cut off Cassidy in the ropes and hit a backstabber that took us into another commercial, this time with picture in picture.

Both men traded thrust kicks until Penta hit a sling blade and another thrust kick for two. Penta wanted to snap the bad arm of Cassidy, who fought back and slid his hand into his pocket. Cassidy threw his little offense, only to explode out and both men hit back to back Destroyers, with Cassidy getting one more for good measure. Penta countered Orange Punch into Made in Penta for a close two as we got a double down. Penta wanted Fear Factor, but Cassidy countered into a Beach Break, but didn’t get all of it. Penta blocked another Orange Punch but using a thrust kick and went to the apron.

Penta hit a violent Fear Factor on the edge of the ring, but Cassidy got a rope break at the last second. Penta violently snapped the bad arm of Cassidy back and hit a proper Fear Factor, but Cassidy kicked out. Penta couldn’t believe it, but in hesitating, Cassidy hooked a quick crucifix to get the flash pin.

Post match, Cassidy took the mic and sat down, saying he doesn’t usually talk and his body really hurts. Despite that, Cassidy is still here defending the title, as it means everything to him. That’s what AEW is all about, putting a person who was called different and too skinny and making them champion. Cassidy will defend this title as long as he wants, as Moxley better bring more than a fork as he is Orange Cassidy and he doesn’t have catchphrase. Jon Moxley then strolled to the ring and had an intense face off with Cassidy to close the show.
