Erg posted:How do you get some of the hidden Phozon Prisms in Odin Sphere? In the skill tree you'll see the stage name, and then a description of where to find it. If there's a skill that has a chest with a question mark on it, that can be found somewhere in a chest in the level - it'll be behind a hidden door somewhere. Sometimes there's combat behind said hidden door, sometimes not, but it'll always be hidden. There are places where there'll be a door just in the environment that doesn't show up on the map, but you still enter it with X + Up. I like Odin Sphere a lot but gently caress this game is so long...each character could probably have two chapters cut with little to no recourse (I mean, the story would have to be changed obviously). I'm up to something like 35 hours and still have the last character to get through plus the final chapter plus the final final chapter. So I platinumed Odin Sphere, and am looking for a decent game to pickup next for the ol' Vita. Guess there was a sale going on that I missed? Bummer. Anyway, as someone who likes Monster Hunter but isn't 100% married it exactly, is Soul Sacrifice Delta or whatever the extended edition is called a good game? I like fighting big things, getting stronger, fighting bigger things, while numbers/abilities/whatever go up. Also I've heard Severed is good?

On my current Vita that I bought used, I was wondering why it was acting so oddly until I realized that the previous guy was still logged into the PSN. If I had wanted to, I could've downloaded and bought a lot of poo poo with it, but, well, I'm not an rear end in a top hat. He had a half-decent game selection, too.

This legitimately made me jump back in fright as I scrolled down to it. Also, if you guys weren't aware there's a PSN flash sale going on right now. Might be some sort of anime miku tara tara kooshi poo poo on there I don't know. Edit: there isn't, but there's a shmup with a name so dumb (DARIUSBURST Chronicle Saviours) it might as well be from the land of Nippon. Got the latest Hatsune Miku game from Sega. It's...well, it's a rhythm game I guess. Filled with characters I don't know, music I've never heard, and a surprising number of mechanics, from what I've unlocked so far. Mostly though it just makes me want to play the Persona 4 rhythm game.

The problem I have with the Hatsune Miku game is just that there's so much poo poo going on the screen that it's hard to have any sort of rhythm. The prompts are flying in from random directions with varying times before you have to press the buttons, and in the mishmash of activity going on in the screen you need to find the prompts, forcing your eyes to constantly be scanning the screen. I just liked the music in Persona 4: DAN. Also the story, as the story in this one is "All this poo poo is grey. Guess we'll dance!" Which begs the question on why there's a story at all. It's obviously for fans too (which I guess was pretty obvious) as characters will come in and Miku will just be like "Oh yeah they're electronic voices too anyway whatever" and then it's the next level. As for what I was expecting...well, I didn't have any expectations, this is a review copy. I'm going in blind.

CrashCat posted:I've only seen like the beginning couple hours of the story and it wasn't like that at all I phrased it awkwardly, but I was referring to the story in Hatsune Miku Project Diva X. The plot is literally "Huh, these spheres (I forget what they're called but they're all named after a genre, like 'cute' or 'cool' or 'quirky) don't have any light...guess we should dance and sing...oh look they light up! Let's do that more!" And then you have to do five songs for each sphere plus what I guess could be called a boss medley or something, a bunch of songs strung together. And then there's like individual stories in each sphere - they formed a band in the 'cool' sphere. Very weird slice-of-life stuff. The actual rhythm bits aren't hard, literally the only problem I have with the gameplay is how the symbols are flying across the scene with a flashy-as-gently caress background (which sometimes also has symbols flashing around it) - if the symbols were just moving up or from the sides to a set location I'd be fine, but in many places I can see where the symbol is going, but not where the symbol is, and am just guessing when to press it based on the music. Works like 90% of the time though so maybe that's the point. Anyway as a rhythm game is has a surprising amount of extra poo poo in it - different combinations of accessories and costumes get you better levels of bonuses, you can give gifts to your singers to get them more 'voltage' (score) in songs, you can switch vocals I think, and singers? But I suppose that's easy to implement when you just need to change the digital modulator on the voice synthesis.

Always online is one of those things that in theory sounds alright - I certainly don't care about my console always being online...usually. But these guys never look at the failure cases. Like, when the PSN went down and then suddenly you couldn't play any games at all (or was that a lovely firmware update?) It may not gently caress everyone, but those that it does gently caress, it fucks them hard.

It's like...Vitas sell when they go on sale? Shame Sony never figured this out before. I had been waiting for that since the drat things came out, but I never saw one less than $200 (someone got me a used one a little while back though). Also I've been playing more Soul Sacrifice Delta lately - despite beating the game, I find something about it so...off-putting? Not quite that, but the story structure, equipment list, world design, is so alien compared to everything else that it's jarring.

Reason why you shouldn't: You don't want to play a bad game that's not very fun or well written. Reason why you should: You want to jerk off to anime girls being tortured and, like, pissing themselves as they die while making gross death noises. Edit: All I'm saying is that there's only one reason why you'd buy it and that's if you fit into the latter mould.
