They should have made someone else the captain and keep her on the civilian track and become something akin to "mission specialist" which corresponds to a captain but isn't. She clearly has no respect for the command chain, nor towards the crew of her ship, but because of her plot shield she always ends up being right. So when Disco 4 fraps up she will be a rear admiral in charge of endangered wildlife, national parks and recreational planets, so that she can flunk off with her not-boyfriend to save the hypnotoads. And decide how to fill up that large hole where Book fell twice on a Arcturus 4, and next to Tilly's family farm to make it an recreational area.

EDIT: Why Tilly did not just black alert and jump away to some nearby place is really stupid; they had the coordinates, and the Emerald Chain flag poo poo could just pursued them, or get hosed by trying to enter the nebula. Jump back when the flagship reaches them at the nearby place, rescue the crew and jump the gently caress away. This way, none of the finale stuff inside the Fed would have happened, that Orion vessel would have killed itself by going to investigate the Nebula, and the people stranded there would have been none-the-wiser. Trying to apprehend that kelpien who was semi-connected to the dilithium would have killed the Orion ship anyway if they ever reached the far end. Powered Descent posted:The way I've been reconciling the big obvious "Space CIA" of Disco and the underground conspiracy of DS9 is that sometime after Disco took place, Section 31 was officially abolished, and there stopped being special S31 bases and starships and badges. It either continued from that time in a much smaller, completely unofficial capacity, or at some point a new conspiracy sprung up and took the name of the old organization. I also understood it this way; Control probably killed 95% of its personnel and the rest of the undercover agents just assumed their cover as their new identity, some enablers just disappeared and most of their fleet personnel died. The rest were rolled into the official Starfleet Intelligence. Its actually interesting to see where they want to go with the new S31-series, since they probably do not want to gently caress up the TNG/DS9 lore too much with retcons. Personally I still think that if they wanted to keep Michelle Yeoh on their payroll they should have just done the Terran Empire spinoff. Disco already did what, 6 Terran empire-episodes and two story lines? Put together 5-6 episode miniseries with two stories, one backstory, and one after Georgiou goes back and retakes her throne, and you'll have a full "season". Explore all the evil implications of Star Trek and its technology there, its a war crime sandbox universe anyway.

CBS also painted itself into a corner with the Disco 3 by saying that "regardless of what anyone does, the Starfleet collapses in few centuries". Unless they give Disco3+ the ST:TAS treatment and say that "after the timejump it became the Burnham timeline and gently caress that, unless we specifically refer to it somewhere". They have what, 5 shows now in development and all of them go towards the "does not matter, dilithium stops working, ships get trashed, and federation basically ceases to exist".

There's plenty of distance where we at least don't have to think about the dumb decisions they made in terms of what happens to the Federation later on. They made it pretty clear in a very heavy-handed way that all other options will lead to the sentient life losing that war against the AI, so the only solution was to take the 100000 years of AI data to the future, and we get what Disco3 showed us. So unless they do timeline splitting, or a full retcon of Disco S3 onwards, that is where they will inevitably end up to. Pike also knows that he will become invalid, and we know that he does absolutely nothing (or was it that he cannot do anything) to prevent that from happening, since taking the time crystal solidifies that part of the timeline.

In the mirror universe Kelpians were and remained the apex predators of their planet, but as they taste like lobsters but better, the Empire made them a special dish for the elite, while also keeping the rest of them as handy dogsbodies. You gently caress up, you are served as a dinner, you show obedience, you get to live in a relatively nice place as long as you do as you are told, something akin to dogs. I think that by the TNG the tech curve of the known galaxy had stagnated to slow to moderate advancements; Even the most modern top-of-the-line Starfleet ships keep getting knocked around by whatever, even ancient, weapon systems that happen to be around if they were made by someone sufficiently advanced to begin with, and while Discovery was outclassed its ability to dish out damage wasn't completely trivialized in the first episodes of S3. In less dramatic case, the then-60+ year old Excelsiors were still in service when the Dominion war happened. The important part is to have the weapon beam emitter and sufficient power source to keep it firing, and "more power is more firepower". Except when it isn't; that's why the Borg were such a huge threat.

Wouldn't be the first sci-fi franchise to say that the other species are a bit... worried in a situation where humans have to get creative and killing stuff is involved. Also, give everyone vizor and maybe some assisting implants so that they get instant feedback from stuff, there are so many different systems involved they cannot remember the small details of every separate one... maybe even let them sleep on cryo/biobeds so that the areas can be compartmentalized and no separate barracks/hospitals are neeeded, replicate food paste directly to stomach and poo poo back to recycling tanks to cut out plumbing and toilets... I started through the first few missions of the klingon campaign and got bored after the star trek novelty wore off. Yeah, you'd need to get to somewhere around lvl 30 before you can realistically start to choose what you want to do, more than 80% of the content is designed for maxleveled captains to get better stuff for their ships or ground crew. Or grind for a new ship. This includes several of the current episodes, since you should hit level gap around 2/3 of the federation "campaign". Basically the leveling system at this point is a glorified tutorial, and the last completely new thing that unlocks is the admirality system for managing your own personal fleet, which opens at 50 or so. However, unlike other MMORPGs this takes about a week per character, not two months and some races like Jem'hadar start near the level gap to begin with.

On the first 10 or so episodes yeah, "Americans going to business trip to EU and Asia" is actually quite close. ...Although I still find it a bit stupid plot hole that in the episode "Dear Doctor" the Valakians are desperate for Humans to give them warp-capable ship to find more help. I am watching Enterprise for thefirst time and it is apparent that Braga or Brennan likes Asian. On almost every episode so far which involves Hoshi in a major role, she had been practically or literally naked at some point. Also, they really liked recycling scripts; during the 30-so episodes there had been an embarassing amount of "Someone, usually Archer gets captured" or "Enterprise is taken over" episodes. Hell, they even did "Trip gets marooned" and "all but one crewmember is incapacitated" twice in the first 30 episodes.

Almost done with the S2 of Enterprise. I know the show picks up speed in S3 and S4, but still. So far I have counted 11 episodes where the plot is "Archer and/or some else is taken hostage and needs rescue", there is three of them in a row in S2 5 episodes that are basically "something happens to shuttle and some people are marooned", there are three of these within 5 episodes in S2 7 episodes of "Enterprise is taken over by someone". Not exactly original stuff, half of the episodes are one of these formulas, and that's even not counting the episodes that are remakes of earlier Star Trek series episodes, or compressed versions of classic films like the episode Marauders is for the Seven Samurais. The one episode left for me is the season cliffhanger which I believe kicks in the "better part of the series". At least it cannot get any worse from here, right? So far the best episode was the one where the three Vulcans were stranded on Earth in 1960's, and the Progenitor had an interesting story but it was terribly hamfisted and preachy as an episode.
