What the gently caress do you mean "she's a saint"? Marriage isn't a reward women get because they're putting up with a man's poo poo for a long period of time. It's not a prize at the end of the trial, not a guarantee they'll be "together forever". It's also NOT REQUIRED in LTRs.

Marriage is (supposed to be) an announced commitment between to people that they have a long-term relationship they don't plan on ending.

And if Scuz hasn't married his girlfriend yet, she's not a "saint". You don't know her, you don't know him. COULD BE she doesn't want to get married - could be, HE doesn't want to get married. It's not really any of your business. She's not a better person for not pressuring him into it yet (assuming he doesn't want to); that would actually make her an overbearing nag and generally not someone to marry. He's not a worse person for not having done it yet (assuming she wants to); that would make him a weak-willed pushover with no other goals in life.

My current LTR has lasted nearly a year more than my marriage. (Cant beleive it's been over 8 years.....!) and yes what exactly does marriage give to us.... apart from legitimacy in the eyes of people we dont give a gently caress about? I mean, come on, marriage is legal and political construct, defacto these days gives you all the rights anyway..... you are married in all but the peice of paper and even then now, you can get one of those if you feel the need to make things solid.

Live with whomever you want and be done with it.

I actually like doing the stuff that makes me feel like a citizen. I'm one of those weird guys that votes in all the local elections and reads up on the candidates and goes to Jury Duty and things like that. It's like some of the only stuff that is specifically American.

Due in no short that we have compulsory voting, it's long been the case Aust voting is made to be as easy and as fast as possible. We have huge school fetes but the best reason to vote? DEMOCRACY SAUSAGE SIZZLES

We have online location finders of all polling booths with them as well now. And yes, people really do go vote where the best sausage sizzles are.

I'm poo poo at comiserations but for what it's worth.... TT my condolances. It's not much comfort but at least her suffering is over - just one bit of advice would be to make sure the funeral is about remebering the good times. One of my aunts died a few years ago and by the end no one was crying or sad - we remebered a wonderful lady and a drat funny one too. We were all richer for having known her. Hold on to the good memories.

24-105 L f4 IS USM. Ooooh man what a sweet thing it is too, not as sweeeet as my 70-200 2.8 L IS USM but man is it a step up from my normal walkaround lens. Just in time for a slightly different professional job tomorrow.

I've been using the new lens to take kitty pics.

The only thing I dont like about this lens is flashlit pics look really harsh. This one I bounced the flash strobe.

I.... really dont know what to make of the result. It's unique I'll give it that. Unsettling is another word I'd use.
