This is the problem. The left has no answer to people who can't be reasoned with. Fact and figures, and appeals to a sense of decency are all they have. They assume all people have an inbuilt ability and desire to critically analyse problems and arrive at a logical solution. Above all, I don't think people on the left want it badly enough. Right wingers will crawl over broken glass to win an election because they love money and winning elections means more money for them and their mates. The left seems satisfied with saying "oh well, we tried" and spending the next 3 years lamenting all the damage being done to society and institutions.

All the Get Up and Greens messaging I see looks like it's just targeted at Greens voters. Marketing 101 says that's a waste of resources but here we are.

We're talking about messaging to people who are not worldly, not critical thinkers, and who give the barest of fucks about anyone other than themselves. Get inside their heads. What are their fears, what do they want from life, what motivates them, what buzzwords and slogans do they connect with that can be used for political ends? Note that you don't have to convince them to vote for a left wing party, simply convincing them to vote for someone other than the LNP or not at all would be sufficient.

The reason Trump's messaging was on point during their election was because they actually did all that and came up with a bunch of really effective slogans like the "Drain the Swamp" one.

You don't convince these people by presenting a bunch of facts about climate change, you create an army of bots to spread memes with boomer style formatting about how Soros is funding fossil fuel companies to keep Australia dependent on foreign energy imports, and how ScoMo is undermining ~The Constitution~. You don't talk about how refugees and other migrants are being hosed over by the LNP, you make it about farmers, tradies and truckies. Don't gently caress around about decorum, make a bunch of memes calling Sco Mo a traitor. Above all, don't spread these via organisations calling themselves names associated with left wing politics, get a bunch of FB pages calling themselves Tradies for 'Straya oval office or something - I don't think people on the left realise how toxic the Greens and 'greenies' are outside of the left.

I seen on FB (I know, I know) someone post a suggestion that this is the time to go nuts doing all those national disability scheme changes to houses that are huge money but hard to fund normally. I bet a lot of the suggested changes to make disabled peoples lives significantly better (and long term cheaper to care for) are pretty much "shovel ready" in that they have known what exactly to do but without the money to do it for decades.
