If that's really a risk the labs should just burn all their samples before anything stupid happens. Any naturally occurring disease will be straightforward to reacquire and any of the esoteric BW poo poo should probably just go away for the good of mankind.

An225 is probably dead as the Russians sieged the Antonov Airfield to the North of Kyiv looking to establish an airhead for their invasion.

Edit:
The partially complete airframe (~70% built) is in the concrete hangar, seen in the third image below. It would take a hundred million or two to get it airworthy, if it survives the war undamaged.

It's probably relatively easy to rebuild but there are some industries having to adjust their schedules to reflect surface shipping now.

Car radios typically don't reach into the shortwave bands, I thought?

AM radios are around 0.5mhz~1.5mhz, then FM tends to be around 85mhz~108mhz typically. You'd need an actual shortwave radio.

Some European and Asian domestic market spec vehicles include radios that receive shortwave bands.

Honestly there probably aren't 25 bioweapons research labs in the entire world.

To be fair the subject at hand could be research labs that have samples of really gross pathogens, which could include a whole lot of university labs and places like the CDC in addition to defensive research (sic) labs funded by governments. They don't have to be commonly-accepted "BW agents" to kill a lot of people if they get loose. The obvious implication of the tweet is that there are a couple dozen US funded Vozrozhdeniya Islands in Ukraine, which is of course poo poo from a bull's rear end.

Reason I think nukes wont be used is there's only one possible source for nuclear weapons in this conflict right now, and that is Russia, it can't be false-flagged away, and nuclear weapons have not been utilized in anger since 1945 and nobody is quite sure what will happen if they are. However, chem/bio remains a threat, and Russia definitely has stockpiles of chem/bio weapons, and a demonstrated willingness to use them, for example, Syria.

They also know or think they know what will happen if they pull out chem weapons, based on the international response to their use in Syria, which was fuckall. Will that be the same case in Ukraine? Who the gently caress knows, Ukraine has a really good PR game, compared to the Syrian rebels, so there's a better shot of international intervention on behalf of Ukraine if Russia uses unconventional weaps, but I wouldn't count on it.

Nobody will do anything, chemicals got used in Syria and Russia used them in the UK and nothing happened either time. I'd be surprised if anyone did more than finger wagging if Russia popped off a little nuclear weapon inside Ukraine either.
