AEW Dynamite comes on the air with Excalibur welcoming us alongside Tony Schiavone and Taz as we open the show with highlights of last weeks 6 man tag main event, with Hangman Adam Page seemingly hurting his ankle in the process. Page’s music hits and he limps to the ring with a crutch for assistance.

Hangman Adam Page Addresses Injury Concerns

Page was cheered by the crowd and said when All Elite Wrestling started, it was an opportunity to make the most out of expectations that laid in front of him and believes he did that winning the AEW World Title in 2021. Page said when the AEW World Title match at Revolution was a Triple Threat, he said it was bullsh*t and he meant it, as it should’ve been a singles match, which is why it pains him to say that he’ll be unable to compete on Sunday. This was met with boos from the crowd, as Swerve Strickland’s music hit and he came out with Prince Nana by his side.

Strickland said over the last six months, both he & Page have been at war and both may have crossed the line, but never did he want this to happen. Strickland said the funny thing about fate is that you can’t escape it and same can be said about his destiny of winning the AEW World Title this Sunday.

Samoa Joe came to the stage and said it’s time to tell the audience some truths. Strickland & Page have been staring daggers at each other for weeks until they realize who the real man is, that being the AEW World Champion. Joe referred to Page as Hop Along and called both he & Strickland hungry accomplished wrestlers, but they’re only hungry because Joe is starving their asses. Joe said whether it’s one or both of them, come Revolution, he’s whipping both their asses. Strickland said he went from a cruiserweight and unemployed to main eventing Pay Per Views. He’s done anything necessary to get where he’s at, including breaking into a wrestling school to bloody an 18 year old kid and also trespassed into another man’s home and threatened his child. Strickland said he’s a career maker and changer and that he’ll send Joe back to commentary wearing a poncho again. Strickland said he’s on the verge of making history and asked the crowd whose house before Page cracked him with the crutch from behind, showing he’s not hurt at all. Page screamed at Strickland that he’s never going to let him become AEW World Champion. Page stormed to the back, as Strickland slowly got to his feet with help from Nana.

-Matthew & Nicholas Jackson were shown arriving to the arena earlier today, saying it’s time to clock in. They’re met immediately by Renee Paquette, who asked about their business meeting with Ric Flair last week and Nicholas said it went great, which is all she needs to know. Matthew asks if Sting has arrived, since they want to congratulate him on his last Dynamite and want to conduct his exit interview, as they show a baseball bat and go search for him.

Bryan Danielson, Jon Moxley & Claudio Castagnoli defeated Eddie Kingston & FTR (Dax Harwood & Cash Wheeler)

(This was a hard hitting battle and nice preview of what’s to come this Sunday at Revolution. Kingston didn’t tap, but instead passed out, giving Danielson some bragging rights, as Moxley & Castagnoli stood tall over Hardwood & Wheeler as well.)

Danielson & Kingston were going to start the match when Danielson bailed before a lockup to tag Castagnoli. Multiple shoulder blocks from Kingston, including one off the second to start, as Danielson & Harwood tag in and have a fast ground game sequence until Moxley & Wheeler jump in and slug it out. The forearm exchange turned to headbutts and uppercuts until a six man free for all broke out that took things to picture in picture.

Back from break, Wheeler was trapped in a Figure Four before Harwood stomped on the fingers of Moxley to break the hold. Wheeler fought free out of the BCC corner, as Harwood made the hot tag and ran wild. After a trifecta of near falls on Moxley, Harwood hit a Tiger Driver, but Danielson broke it up and egged on Kingston, who was held back by the official, allowing a Castagnoli cheap shot on Harwood. Kingston found himself surrounded on the floor, as Danielson shot for a leg and hit a charging low dropkick against the barricade. Castagnoli kept Harwood grounded back in the ring, as we go to a second commercial break.

Harwood, who was isolated the entire time, was dropped with a Hart Attack and flying headbutt off the top by Danielson. Harwood backdropped out of a Moxley piledriver and made the tag to Kingston, who was finally face to face alone with Danielson, firing off chops and an Exploder for two. Castagnoli suffered the same fate, but Moxley jumped in and laid out his friend with a lariat, which Kingston no sold and led to a slug fest. Danielson flew in with a corner dropkick, as Castagnoli did the Giant Swing with Danielson assist dropkick mid revolution. Moxley spiked Kingston with a piledriver, but Harwood made the save. The match broke down, leaving Danielson to eat the spinning back fist from Kingston and top rope Steiner bulldog from FTR for two.

All six men paired off, with the BCC crew applying triple sleepers and anvil elbows. Kingston, Harwood & Wheeler all broke free and unloaded machine gun chops until the tables were turned. Just then everyone started hitting their finishers until Kingston missed his back fist on Danielson, who hit a Regal suplex and Busaiku Knee. Instead of a pin, Danielson opted to kick Kingston’s head in, as he poured down boots and applied a triangle choke with Kingston passing out. With the submission still applied, Danielson berated Kingston, who commentary said couldn’t hear any of it, since he’s unconscious.

-We see footage from CMLL of Chris Jericho in his younger days, being mentored with Atlantis, as tonight he’ll be facing Atlantis Jr. Renee Paquette is backstage with Jericho, who said 30 years ago he was thrown into the deep end with names like Negro Casas, Silver King, El Dandy & Atlantis. Jericho said he wanted to repay the favor and teach Atlantis Jr. some lessons, including violence, as only Corazon de Leon can do.

Will Ospreay Is Officially All Elite

Tony Schiavone is in the ring to make it official, as he introduces Ospreay to the ring to a loud ovation. Ospreay said he wants to thank everyone for the reception and for allowing him to finish his obligations for New Japan Pro Wrestling. Ospreay said he’s hear dressed in a green jumpsuit like Kermit and reminded the crowd how he’s already had wins in AEW over Orange Cassidy, Kenny Omega & Chris Jericho. The territory might be different, but he’s ready to pick up where he left off as a member of the Don Callis Family. Right on cue, Callis comes to the ring with Powerhouse Hobbs & Konosuke Takeshita, as he hugs Ospreay, who smirks at the camera.

Callis said there’s nothing he likes more than a Callis Family Reunion. Callis thanks Ospreay for mentioning everything they accomplished together and they’ll top it by having a Match of the Decade at Revolution between “The Alpha” Konosuke Takeshita & Will “By God” Ospreay. This will be like Jordan & Pippen going at it in practice and winning all those NBA Titles, so it doesn’t matter who wins at Revolution, the real winner is the Don Callis Family and asks both to shake hands.

Ospreay extends his hand and Takeshita hesitates, but shakes it. Both take turns not letting go and pulling each other in. The crowd is loudly chanting for Ospreay, who shakes Callis’ hand and gives Hobbs a fist bump. Ospreay is left in the ring with his music playing as Callis, Hobbs & Takeshita make their way back up the ramp.

-Renee Paquette is standing by with Eddie Kingston, talking about the disrespect shown tonight from Bryan Danielson ahead of Sunday. The Young Bucks walk in and ask if they’re interrupting, but Nicholas said he doesn’t care and scolds Kingston for talking crap last week about them, as next time it’ll be a fine. Matthew apologizes for his brother and tells Kingston to start dressing like a champion and ponders implementing a dress code. The Bucks leave to continue searching for Sting, as Kingston is just left baffled with Paquette.

Orange Cassidy defeated Nick Wayne (w/The Patriarchy) to retain the AEW International Title

(The match was going pretty well, until so many run ins happened in the last minute. I understand why it was needed, but I sort of wish it would’ve happened just post match. Regardless, Wayne put up a good fight, but no way was he winning the title with this much build put behind Cassidy & Strong for Sunday.)

After an early back and forth of ground work, Cassidy slowly kipped out of a head scissors, as both tried finisher attempts, but failed, as Wayne sent Cassidy to the floor with a leaping back elbow. Wayne drove Cassidy back first into the steps and followed up with a moonsault off the second. Back inside, Cassidy wisely rolled out of harm’s way with Wayne on the top, but Wayne didn’t care, as he hit a somersault dive to the floor. Again back inside, Wayne missed a top rope double stomp, tried for a superplex, but Cassidy fought free. With Wayne down, the referee missed Christian Cage crotching Cassidy, but did see Cage on the apron and ejected the entire Patriarchy leading to picture in picture.

Cassidy mounted a comeback when things returned from break, ramming Wayne head first multiple times into multiple turnbuckles, a top rope cross body and spinning DDT for two. Wayne answered with a nice Fisherman’s Suplex with a bridge for two before mocking Cassidy with little kicks. Cassidy popped right up and fired off a superkick before delivering some kicks of his own, including a running PK. Wayne countered Orange Punch into a German Suplex, but Cassidy responded with Beach Break for two. Just then, Mike Bennett & Matt Taven appear ringside to run distraction, as Wayne hit a Dragon Suplex for two. Rocky Romero & Trent Beretta hit the ring and brawl with The Kingdom, as Wayne takes off the top turnbuckle until Daniel Garcia shows up to distract Wayne. This allowed Cassidy to hit an Orange Punch and get the pin. Immediately post match, Roderick Strong hit the ring and laid out Cassidy in a hit and run, as he bailed until Romero & Beretta made the save.

-The Bang Bang Scissor Gang are backstage with Renee Paquette and said they’re really gelling as a group. Switchblade Jay White said their wires crossed early on, but they got back on track and he’s all about the Bang Bang Scissor Gang. Austin Gunn suggest himself & The Acclaimed in a Trios match on Saturday, but Bowens said it was silly and suggested The Acclaimed & Austin Gunn in a Trios match, which everyone agreed. This was pretty pointless, hopefully the Bullet Club Gold boys make the turn soon, as the Bang Bang Scissor Gang has been pretty underwhelming thus far.

Skye Blue (w/Julia Hart) vs. Kris Statlander (w/Willow Nightingale & Stokely Hathaway)

(Hathaway tried his best for Statlander to cheat and she seemed to ponder it ever briefly, but Nightingale wouldn’t allow it. That led to the wheels falling off for Statlander, as Hart’s help led to Blue going up 2-1 in her series with Statlander.)

Nightingale apologized to fans ringside for Hathaway just being around, as Blue wasted no time, charging Statlander at the bell, but the power game of Statlander put her in control. Statlander remained on the attack, rag dolling Blue, who attempted a tilt a whirl head scissors. Blue blocked a head stand boot in the corner and hit a step up knee on the apron. Statlander pulled Blue off the apron with a gorilla press and launched Blue into the front row, wiping out some assumed planted fans ahead of picture in picture.

Blue controlled the break, but Statlander answered when things returned with a diving back elbow off the second for the double down. Statlander was a house of fire until a rolling neckbreaker put Blue back on offense. Both ladies fought to the apron, trading high kicks until a German Suplex connected by Statlander. Hart & Nightingale tended to their partners until both ladies had a face off. Blue hit a drop toe hold on Statlander into the steps, as back inside, Blue hit a Canadian Destroyer and inside cradle for two. Statlander cut off Blue in the ropes with an Iconoclasm, as Hathaway tries to give Statlander a steel chain, but Nightingale told her no. The ref reprimands Hathaway, as Hart decks Statlander with the TBS Title, allowing Blue to hit Code Blue to steal the win.

-Matthew & Nicholas Jackson are at the entrance of the locker room of Sting and Matthew said Sting seemed a little crazy last week and reminded his brother the only thing for sure about Sting is nothing’s for sure. They burst into the locker room to find a bunch of baseball bats hanging from the ceiling and they were left confused and upset.

“Lionheart” Chris Jericho defeated Atlantis Jr. (w/Atlantis)

(For only being announced yesterday, the crowd reacted very well to Atlantis Jr. I assume this is the start of Jericho potentially working in Arena Mexico for CMLL again, maybe on the same show as the Blackpool Combat Club. While I enjoyed the match, I want to know what this is leading to for Jericho. As I’m just happy it’s something different than the Don Callis Family feud.)

Jericho had his Lionheart entrance and gear on for this one as he slapped Atlantis instead of taking a handshake. Atlantis showed off his speed immediately with a top rope cross body and two monkey flips to follow. Jericho countered the third into the Walls of Jericho, but Atlantis quickly got the ropes. Jericho tried unmasking Atlantis Jr. until ref Aubrey put a stop to it, allowing Atlantis Sr. to lure Jericho in and choke him with a towel. This led to Atlantis Jr. hitting a dive and slingshot into the post. Atlantis wanted a powerbomb onto the steps, but Jericho countered into a hurricanrana, sending Atlantis face first into the steps before picture in picture.

Atlantis regained control during break, cutting Jericho off with a top rope arm drag for two. Atlantis fought for and got a wheelbarrow German suplex for another near fall, as he tried to follow by going up top, only for Jericho to cut Atlantis off with almost an Avalanche Bulldog. Atlantis caught a charging Jericho with a snap powerslam and followed up with a dive to the outside. Back inside, Jericho cut off Atlantis in the ropes, connected on ten punches before delivering a hurricanrana. Atlantis ducked Judas Effect and applied La Atlantida, but Jericho escaped into the Liontamer and Atlantis Sr. had no choice but to throw in the towel for his son. Post match, Jericho checked on Atlantis Jr, helping him to his feet before having words with Atlantis Sr. until they hugged.

Sting Makes His Final Dynamite Appearance

The Young Bucks make their entrance to the ring with their baseball bats and get into the faces of fans seated ringside wearing Sting masks. One of those fans revealed to be Darby Allin, who fought off The Bucks briefly before Matthew fired off a superkick. Nicholas & Matthew use their bats in the ring to take out Allin and connect on an EVP Trigger. The Bucks signal to the back and Ric Flair makes his entrance, coming to the ring.

Flair takes a baseball bat from Matthew and instead just pokes Nicholas in the eyes and punched Matthew. Nicholas hit a low blow and The Bucks put the boots to Flair before Sting’s music finally hits. The Bucks head up the ramp to cut him off, but Sting is lowered from the rafters and drop the charging Bucks with baseball bat shots of his own. Allin flies off the top with a Coffin Drop, as Sting dropped Nicholas with a Scorpion Death Drop. Sting, Allin & Flair stand tall with The Bucks retreating, saying they have a real nice severance package for Sting this Sunday.

Skye has been great since she turned heel. It wasn’t immediate but she’s just turned up to a whole new gear as a heel. Not just her persona, but the way she wrestles and emotes and everything have all changed for the better.
