I've been organizing my rubbermaids full of lego and finally got around to looking up some manuals for some classic sets. Here's my 4005 and 4025. The latter has more minifigs than it came with, as I needed somewhere for them to live while I rebuild the 6382 Fire Station.

Oh my god I had the fireboat on the right! It came with weighted bits that you attached to the bottom so it would float upright in the bath! :swoon:

The recycling truck looks cool and the bins seem to be on a green piece that could be connected to the new road pieces.

You have a ton of extra pieces if you build one big tree. I think they get used when you build two smaller ones. What pieces are you missing? The 3x2 plates and 2x1 with stud are bagged alone with no other pieces. I think the 2x2 corner and 2x2 macaroni are bagged together and so are the 2x4 and 2x6 if i remember correct.

Why does someone need to see themselves as a minifig? I didn't play with LEGO as a kid and think "this bright yellow spaceman is ME!". Why can't yellow minifigs be their own thing in the LEGO universe?

I've done a lot of Lego stuff with after school programs, and speaking pretty generally, 'yellow' for minifigs is coded as 'white' to younger builders, regardless of what Lego themselves says.

Big Mean Jerk posted:

I like the idea someone upthread had of just making the flesh tone faces the “standard” for sets like these and just including classic yellow equivalents as a bonus for those who want to keep their displays consistent. It retains the iconic look while still giving decent representation and Lego can sure as hell afford to include another $3’s worth of heads, hands, and the occasional torso for these $200-$500 sets.

I think they should keep the yellow as the standard on the front of the box, then have the "realistic" skintones on the back. That way Lego keeps the same branding, but shows that yellow isn't supposed to be white (because there's actually white heads/hands included with the others)

Speaking of nostalgia, I decided to build the Space Police Peacekeeper in Stud.io and it was a real blast from the past. I'm tempted to make a few different variations in different generations of Space theme (also I couldn't resist updating the minifig faces)

Decided to go ahead and try modify the Peacekeeper into a Classic Space version. I tried to keep the overall size similar to the original, as well as keeping the same main play feature of the removable prison section - in this case turned into a boster/droid transport pod.

It's based mostly on the Xenon X-Craft, with the side panels being the same as the ones on Cosmic Voyager
