I touch the XBone controller when it's time to play. The Kinect is like having a surly robot in your living room who always thinks you're talking about it. You can't say "Xbox" anywhere near it, it's why the cool kids all say XBone. I'm also turned on by the idea of the NSA watching me play Titanfall and getting sweet gameplay tips. So there's that.

I think the problem most people have with shooters is all the circlestrafing bunnyhopping twelve year olds who headshot, headshot, headshot. Probably while using mice and keys. Because that's not annoying as gently caress to play against at all. The advice I would give is to stay the hell away from deathmatch or hoppers containing modes like that, and concentrate on objective-based games. Sure, you'll still run into some assholes who don't seem to get the rules of the game mode they're playing, but at this point you're not actively trying to engage them, you're capping points and flags while the meatheads kill each other. Then, if voice chat is on (it isn't) you can hear their prepubescent little voices complain about how they don't understand how you got in first you DIDN'T EVEN GET ANY KILLS.

Real people can't do that, and I require realism in my murder simulators. You can turn all voice chat off, it's an option in Settings or Preferences somewhere. You can also disable the Kinect for voice chat, in a separate preference. You can also highlight everyone in the lobby one by one and press X to mute them.

Got steamrolled pretty hard by a bunch of second gens with mics last night. I was playing with my IRL friend who "couldn't" use his mic because he didn't want to "wake" the "baby". Because kids should be trained to leap up at the slightest noise from across the house, of course. Those make the most mellow and reasonable fun-loving adults! Luckily I do not have a hu-mon "ego" which would cause me to "care" about things of no real monetary value.

A real friend would be able to appreciate this. I respectfully disagree. The child needs to learn to sleep through the noise of adults talking at a reasonable volume, and hasn't as yet at this point 4 years in. No one's screaming here. I realize parenting is hard work, especially initially getting the child into good sleep habits. No adult should have the fussy sleep of an infant. But at this point, this is not about Xbones or Titanfall so I guess somebody else can have the last word because I'm not talking about this anymore. EDIT: About the Kinect switching profiles when you pass the controller along, who are you people that get to have friends just come over to pass the controller around? My friends all have to stay at home because children and I feel like a bad influence when I go over and their wives/girlfriends are always trying to find something else for them to do. The XBone's Kinect truly is the device for the future. It lets you know you're alive, and that you still have friends. CAPT. Rainbowbeard fucked around with this message at 18:55 on Mar 16, 2014 |

Less money overall spent on hardware for the ability to play the most recent games, with an input device designed for playing them which wouldn't even be a thing if PC gamers (master race) had had their way over the years. All my guests love it too. Standing up to a PC gamer (master race) on Something Awful dot com forums is an excellent way to get a red title. Such is their tyranny. Better to tray them like a Tea Partier or grizzly and just play dead. If I get a red title because of this, remember me as a stupid newbie, not someone with a red title. Isn't the ESRAM thing basically just the Cell thing from last gen? As in, a hardware quirk that PC devs took a while to figure out if they even did at all? The in-house Playstation game devs really picked up the ball there near the end, you have to give them credit where it's due. It's too soon to get super worried about anything, I think.

Another question: is raw computing power an excuse for less efficient coding? Consoles have always needed to work within certain limitations. I'm looking at reasons why things may work out, not why they wont. I can see those reasons.

Kinect has been a success in my house for sure (with minor bumps). Overall though yeah I agree this is progress for the market. Give people what they want then hope they try the additional abilities later. Much like Windows 8 with a touchscreen. I know people that swore they'd never use a touchscreen on a laptop/desktop because <dumb argument>. Then they tried it and now enjoy the new control method offered. Yes, the free Bone games are for all month. The sales change every week though. Guacamelee is pretty fun. Looking at a guide on GameFAQs (for what the unlockable moves were, mostly. The "Xbox Help" snap would be useful if I had never played a game before) I see there is more than one ending? Can anyone confirm this? Guacamelee isn't famous enough for sperglords to document every facet on a wiki I guess. And God drat Combo Chicken's loving combos. It's like the Dojo from Killer Instinct. I got Steppin' Razor in Halo 3. The way things were set up when that game came out, it had to be done in FFA, and that game mode (at the time) had just enough players to do it... if they were all kind enough to stand still and let you sword them. If anyone was engaging anyone else, it was practically impossible to do because they wouldn't respawn in time if killed.. I set my language to Korean or something and boosted.
