Suprisingly, the clones of Kantai Collection don't do that. They have boats/planes/tanks from nearly every country involved in WW2, all on the good guy side.

There's a similar reason for P4's death game over and P3's.The MC is the only one in the party who has been granted his Persona by Izanami, and is thus necessary to stop the other people Izanami "blessed" and then Izanami herself.

Everyone else in the group gains their Persona the "natural" way, by accepting their Shadow. Even the initial murder victims could have gained a Persona, if they hadn't angered their Shadow and been killed by it.

And I don't know if the plot ever manages to put you in a place of prominence beyond the usual Protagonist Who Will Fix Everything (by doing all these quests and hitting stuff with a sword).

In Amalur, you are a literal messiah figure (the tutorial/intro reveals that you are the one successful resurrection from a massive experiment), and the sole person who can stop the big bad, because of this (the setting is a world where "Fate" is an actual near-omnipotent force that controls EVERYTHING, but since you were a mortal who died and forcibly came back, you are now outside of "Fate" and are able to permanently kill Immortals). The side quests are the usual things, and are ignorable (there is an absurd number of side quests, so follow Nier's flowchart), but the main quests are you getting directly involved in what's going on in the big leagues and personally putting a boot to villains.

Also you can customize your appearance and there are multiple races, so tick that off on that list.

But luckily their 600-year-old friends turn into immortal crystals and save everybody. Then the main character vanishes. The end.

Edit: There's a guy named Hope who whines like a bitch and a guy named Sazh who is cool and also worthless in battle.

They were supposed to kill all of the humans, which is what they didn't do. They just wrecked the fal'cie and the ball itself, and "freed" the humans from the fal'cie.

Also Hope was a literal child whose mom got killed, right in front of him, by her buying into Snow's bullshit, then got forced into a literal suicide mission and became a fugitive marked for death. He had every right to be "whiny", and it's still weird to me how people hate him for it.

However, some enemies can't be knocked into the air, so you dash into the air by yourself like an idiot and can't hit them.

On guys that can't be launched (or a bunch of little guys), you can use your Pod attack button to instead launch a rocket at them. Hitting heavy attack will also make you drop back onto their head, if you do fail a launch. Alternately, use the actual Counter command to knock them back but not trigger the launch if you immediately attack them.

If by ape the character design, you mean make Dante look like literally every other Dante in the Devil May Cry franchise, then yea. That's what people wanted out of a Devil May Cry game. People wanted more stylish action starring Pizza Fiend Dante, his Lil Buddy Nero, and Crazy Uncle Vergil.

If they had only dropped the white hair, that would be different. But they specifically made a scene just to say that white hair would look terrible. Nobody would have been as mad about it if they hadn't added what the complainers viewed as a "gently caress you" to people who liked original Dante more.

I do not know how you can not understand why that pissed people off.
